Lee let our dog Cami out this morning and then started watching tv and left her out there. I'm not sure what got into her, but she decided to dig a hole under our privacy fence and take off. We have no idea when she may have left because Lee didn't check on her for over two hours, but it's been over two hours since we noticed she was missing.

We've driven all around our neighborhood but there is no sign of her. She has tags, but they still have our NC cell numbers on them and people out here are WEIRD about calling long distance numbers. At least we live in a warm part of the country so I don't have to worry about her freezing or anything, but I'm worried sick she'll get hit or just never find her way back home - we haven't lived here long and she's never been off our property.

--

Someone found her and called us! She's home and safe, but EXTREMELY dirty. I'm sooo thankful she's ok!!

Oh no! I'm sorry! I would think someone would get over their weirdness about calling long distance numbers if they found a missing puppy, kwim? Esp. cause you live in a military area where obviously lots of people would still have their old home #. I would print up a bunch of flyers and just stick em around just in case. Post an ad on Craigslist and call the local vets to let them know your little one is missing. (((hugs)))

I guess I should clarify, she's not actually a puppy... she turned four this past November! But she's still a puppy to me, ya know?

I hope she comes home to you soon. I know how awful it is to worry about a lost pet. I just went through it with my cats a few weeks ago.

You must be so worried, I'm so sorry she went missing! My heart aches for lost pets. Try not to worry too much, though... even if she doesn't know the area, she can easily sniff her way home. I'm sure she will be home in a day or two. I can't imagine anyone picking up a lost dog and not calling if there is a number on the tag. KUP!

Thank you so much, I can't tell you how happy I am that she made it back safe and sound!!

She has been totally weird since she got back, though. She's acting all moody and doesn't want to play with us at all. She just throws herself down on the floor and turns her head away from us - it's like living with a teenager! I guess she saw the big city sights and thinks she's being rebellious!
