What is it called when you adhere decorative paper or foil to wood with like a glossy clear sealer? I don't even know what it's called to google it! lol
What I want to do is buy those wooden letters to spell out baby's name. But then I want to take old Peanuts comic strips I have collected and adhere them to the letters. There will only be bits and pieces showing of each strip but the characters can be all over.
it's called decoupage, and you need the glue called "mod podge" available at Michael's or JoAnn's, etc. I'd suggest getting the Matte finish as opposed to the glossy, because the glossy attracts dust and it's impossible to get off. But mod podge is great stuff. Apply it with a nice flat brush--do not use the sponge brushes because they make little air bubbles and your top coat won't dry absolutely flat. You can wash the glue out of the brush so it's reusable.
I love decopage... I made our baby girls wall letters doing decopage. Here are some pics It was alot of fun to do! And they turned out soooo cute! I need to figure out how to attach some pretty ribbon before we hang them up
I used tissue paper and mod-podge glue!!! I think I'm going to make her a jewelry box and maybe something else too!!!

YAY I can google now!
Anna, where did you buy those unfinished letters? All I seem to find is the white ones!
Michaels... I think they were $2.50 each. And I bought the glue and tissue paper there too
I can't wait to see yours when you finish... are you doing it with tissue or foil? Foil would be really neat... just tear little pieces and glue all over... Its alot of fun!
