Will I be able to get out of bed unassisted once I get home from the hospital (having c-sec & tubal)? I am trying to figure out how nursing is going to work. I was originally going to get a co-sleeper, but I don't know if we'll have enough room for one, and we already have a playard w/ basinette. I don't even know where I am going to nurse, as my mom will be sleeping in the living room (she'll stay a few days to help out) and I cannot make DH sleep out there w/ her. I also have a small bed (full). Any advice?

I was able to get out of bed on my own 2 days after my c-section. And I was up and moving around normally (I was still sore) about 4-5 days after. How long will you be in the hospital for?? When I got home from the hospital we were all packed up mostly because we were moving, Landen slept in a play yard with bassinet and I would prop up pillows and just feed him sitting up in the bed. I hope you can find something that works for you!!!

Every women is so different on this. I have seen moms get up 12 hrs post surgery just fine and I see some struggle for weeks. Football hold is great for c/s mommies and BF, also side laying position.

Getting out of bed hurts for the first couple of weeks, but it's definitely do-able without assistance. I never had any help (even in the hospital) & was just fine. You don't want Brant in bed with you though. If he can't sleep in the living room, he'll need to either sleep w/Abby or on the floor somewhere. If he's in bed with you every move he makes will be excruciating for you--especially in a full-sized bed.

Oh, maybe I should mention that I slept sitting up. No way in heck could I get into the sitting position on my own in the first few days, so I just never laid down, lol. I had about 8-ish pillows. 4-5 behind me in a big stack supporting my back, one on each side of me supporting each arm, and one underneath my knees, so I was cushioned on all sides. That is how I slept for the first 3 weeks or so. Alyssa slept on my chest, so I also had a boppy wrapped around my waist helping to support her. I preferred the regular cradle hold for breastfeeding. The boppy helped a lot with that.
