I already know the Sony Handyman and Rebel are the big ones. But, which models does everyone have?

This is what I have:
Camcorder - Sony Hard Drive Handycam (it's either the 30/60gb one. I can't remember exactly and I'm at work)
Camera - Canon Powershot S5 IS.
I really love my camcorder and the camera works great too. If you're really going to be getting into taking pictures then you might want to get the Rebel. Everyone says great things about them.

Is the hard drive when you transfer the videos to your computer and burn them to a dvd?

I have a Nikon Coolpix and a Nikon D50 for cameras, I love the D50 and the Coolpix camera is just a small one for when we're out and about and don't want to lug the D50. The DSLR cameras are a major investment though, but I feel they are well worth it!
I just got a Canon FS100 digital camcorder for Christmas and I love it! We got a 16GB memory card with it (that we can also use in our regular cameras!) and it can hold a couple hours worth of video. AND, it doesn't have a lens cap to mess around with, which is perfect for me, who is constantly losing lens caps!

Sorry Resi. Yes it is. You download the videos on to you computer and then you can put them on a dvd or other media if your wish.

I have a Casio Elixim for a camera, we don't have a camcorder. It's not a super fancy camera but it works great for what I need it for

I want a digi camcorder too, just a cheap one that gets the job done.
However, you know I'm big on a nice camera You can pick up a Canon Rebel XT for around $400 now and I truly believe it's worth every penny! Check CL and Amazon. I have the Rebel XTi which is a slightly updated version of the XT, but an XT will do just fine and is $100-$150 cheaper.

We just got a Fujifilm S2000HD. It's a little bigger than a regular digi cam but smaller than an SLR. It has HD video, very high quality, so we are using it for a camcorder as well. So far we're pleased with it. I think it was around $250.

I can finally recommend a good Camcorder..
After lots of research we decided on a Canon VIXIA HF20 HD Camcorder. The video quality is amazing from the videos we've seen online.. We should be getting ours in the mail in a week or so.. I can't wait!
Check out these videos, it was shot using this camcorder (I didn't make this video)

This one was shot by the HV30..

I have a Canon S2 IS and a Canon SD1100. I use the S2 when i'm at home because it's big and bulky but the lens is high quality (though not as good as a Rebel) I use the SD1100 when out and about. I love them both.
I have a Flip Mino camcorder, it's super convenient for when Ivy does something spur of the moment because it's teeny and I can take it with me everywhere in my pocket.
