So I am 37 weeks today (well tomorrow but close enough) and I had my doctor's appointment this morning. He says I'm measuring great, my BP is good, weight is good..etc etc. I asked how big he thought Conner was and he said barely over 5lbs. Everywhere that I'm reading says he should be like 7 by now..

Is it normal for him to be only around 5? Is he just a small baby then?

When I was 38 weeks with Taylor my OB predicted she was in the 6 pound range and by birth she'd be in the 7 lb range. He was right, at 40 weeks and 5 days when I delivered she was 7 lbs 13 oz Personally, I think what your doctor said sounds fairly normal.

I'm not sure how they can tell an approx weight just by feel? But babies are all different, some come out lil healthy munchkins, others are elephants I wouldn't worry too much. Apparently they gain approx 1/2 LB per week at this point, so he should be a nice weight for you at EDD.

Of course, I don't know anything from personal experience but when my SIL had her scan at 38 weeks, her baby was estimated to be in the high 5 lb/low 6 lb range. When he was born (granted, it was 1 wk late), he was well over 8 lbs. I think the scan just gives you an estimate, but it's not especially accurate. Probably the btdt mommies and nurses will know a lot more.

It's just an estimate, so I'm sure he'll be fine. We'll know for sure when he makes his grand entrance!!

My nephew was estimated to be 5 pounds at 37.5wks and he was born exactly 2 weeks later at 7lbs 10oz!! They told my sister it is just a really rough estimate it could be up to +1lb more than what they estimate!

Your right on track! Since you have about a month left baby will probably be a 8lb+ baby! Also those guess-tamates the doctor gives you can be +/- 1lb!!
