Well....as long as shes not feeding him bottles of cows milk. That can cause very serious health problems in infants. If she is, please please educate her. On the butter...um, odd.

You should tell your friend to ask her Pediatrician about this.. I'm sure he/she will say it's bad..
I can't believe her mother suggested cows milk and butter!!

Yuck! If she's not breastfeeding, she should at least get some proper formula--even in Germany!!

That's the strangest thing!!
Just my personal opinion but for cow's milk is not for a baby. It should be the mother's human breast milk (if possible). The butter cannot be at all healthy. I'm thinking high sodium and fat...ugh!

Yes she is feeding her bottles of it! Another kinda friend told her how bad that is but I don't think she used much tact when telling her so the lady got really defensive. She did ask her doctor and he also told her how bad that is, but her mom said it was good. I don't think this is a normal German thing, I think her mom is just weird because this is not the first weird thing she has done. She told me babes backs have to be straight for the first 6 months so I can't sit him up .

Oh God, that poor baby! She sounds really uneducated, I'd be afraid she'd do major damage to the poor baby!
My Mom gave my older brother whole cow's milk from the time he was 6 weeks old til he was several months old. She stopped bf'ing him at 6 weeks and didn't know to give him formula. They had a family dr instead of a ped and I guess he never said anything. Luckily the only adverse effect was he got incredibly fat--it did impede his mobility though. Oh, and she also started him on solids at 2 months and by solids I don't mean rice cereal but STEAK! Thankfully she got much more educated before she had the rest of us!
