Am I the only one that thinks it's incredibly irresponsible of the RE to implant 8 embryos at once? I'm happy they are all doing well, but my heavens. That is 14 kiddos! And if her and her husband can't even afford their own home, how did they afford IVF? And just how do they plan to pay for all these childrens needs? I'm curious to hear if it's with my hard earned tax money......

WOW, 6 other kids already?? I cant believe she wanted 8 embroys implanted nor can I reason with why the Drs would even agree to that many...just seems very risky for mom and all the babies (really trying hard not to be judgmental). I just hope all 14 kids get the love and attention they need.

I'm glad that they're all doing okay and all, but come on! How could they implant 8 embryos?! Look at Sam and Joe! They got one implanted and got one baby baking in there! It is totally outrageous to implant that many, etc etc.

That is just wild to me!

1. That she did fertility treatements when she already had 6 kids.

2. They she let them put back 8 embryos.

3. That any RE would EVER let her decide to put back 8. I think most are extremely wary of putting back any more than 3.

Well said Nikki. This might sound bad of me, but some people just make really irresponsible life decisions? I hope it all works out for this family.

I heard some crazy gossip about this on the radio today and when I just found some on perez's site... so it's not like it's a great source, but still.

Supposedly she's a 33 year old single woman. Her parents were paying for her home, and they filed bankrupcy near $1m and lost their home and moved in with their daughter who they were taking care of. The source says she's a student who 'wants a jazillion kids.'

It also says that her first six kids were fathered by a sperm donor, someone she knows. She used his frozen sperm to father these eight kids, but he wasn't aware of that beforehand.

Quote:
"She is single. She used a sperm donor, someone she knew, who donated sperm a long time ago. He donated the sperm for the first six kids and she used his frozen sperm for these one. I don't think the sperm donor knows about these eight kids. He was not involved."[/b]
Quote:
According to the neighbor, the parents are very supportive of their daughter and even lost their own home in an effort to support her. "The parents lost their house supporting their daughter," the neighbor went on. "They actually bought this house for her, but then they lost their house supporting her and her kids and they had to move in with her. And now her father has to go back to Iraq to earn more money to support her. Her father either works as a truck driver or an interpreter [in Iraq]."

As to whether the mother herself works, the neighbor says: "She's a professional student and I want to know where the money's coming from to do this. Maybe she's using her student loans to do it."[/b]
who knows if any of that is accurate, but if it is... WOW. I can't believe they put 8 embryos in her! and with her already having six kids... it's just like, WHY. She is definitely going to have her hands full. 14 bio kids under the age of SEVEN? no thanks!

I do think we need a limit on how many embryos at once--eight is a little insane to me-and doesn't even seem medically smart!! Maybe 3-5 max.
She has six at home and ok'd putting EIGHT embryos in!---*trying NOT to judge, trying NOT to judge*....ok thats just WOW!

I think there need to be stricter guidelines for this stuff. I can't believe an RE would okay 8 embryos in a single mom with 6 other kids, no less.
