I just got a text from Fifi!!!!!!!! Contractions started around 3 am, are about ten minutes apart right now and not too bad, but she is having to breathe through them. Her internet is broken so she cannot get online. She's letting her husband sleep until they get a bit worse or until it gets closer to morning. Please send her lots of labour dust, it looks like Jellybaby wants to arrive!!!!!

just called the midwife - I've to wait until they are regularly mins apart or I can't cope with the pain.
Someone tell me it's normal that they fluctuate in time at this stage?

yep some flucuation is normal! Walking, going up and down stairs should help. No getting into a shower or tub for a relaxing soak till the are 5 min apart (because TO much relaxing in the tub/shower can slow it back down). Are you using your http://www.contractionmaster.com/ to time them!
Don't forget to keep drinking, tons of #2 plus labor is very dehydrating (and dehydration causes more painful contractions--so go spill something!)
I meant sip something not spill

Try putting a pillow down on the floor next you your ball and put your knees on the pillow on the floor then lean on the ball (chest/arms on ball) and roll side to side..it should help your back (and open up your pelvis some).

Thanks girls. And thanks Angela. I just washed/dried my hair.
I seem to be 4 mins apart but they only lasting about 30 seconds. M/w said to phone back at 5 mins apart but it seems they not strong enough, right? I'm guess it's not "time".

CALL her if your under 5 min apart...length of contractions isn't a strong indication of where you are. Time between contractions is. She told you to call at 5 min then thats what you do! It doesn't mean she is going to start running but she may need some prep time also!
