This winter has been more snowy than normal. Which means more days with salt on the road. Which means more use of my windshield wiper fluid. Normally the nice men at the oil change place refill my wiper fluid for me every time I get an oil change and I never have to think about it. But with the additional usage it chose a poor day to run out.
This morning the roads were nice and wet and salty which mean a lot of icky spray on the windshield. Add to the fact that my morning commute this time of the year is directly into the sun, I could not see at all. So I did the best thing I could think of.... Regularly pull over and use handfuls of the snow on the side of the road to wipe the salt off. **sigh**
I am just mad at myself for not thinking to check to see the level recently. Thankfully a coworker has an extra bottle in her car and is going to let me have it so I can get to the store in one piece to buy her a new bottle to replace her supply.
Lesson learned.

Aw that sucks. That's something I would just never consider since we don't have salt trucks. If it snows down here (ha! rarely) they just shut down the whole city (literally.) My wiper fluid is only when my windows are dirty and I've never once checked it, run out or filled it back up... should I ever move up North, now I'll know. Glad a co-worker could help you out! Be safe!

I feel your pain. Same problem here on Long Island. Except one of my spray thingies that spray out the fluid is clogged... sooo my window looks REAL good lemme tell you.... its hard to drive cause the clogged one is the drivers side, so i just keep a bottle of water in my car and throw that on the windshield lol.

Water bottles would have been my first choice but all three of them in my car were all empty! Go figure.
Is winter over yet?

I have definitely done the same thing with a cup of water from McDonalds Sam! It's disgusting and I RARELY drive for anything non-essential in the winter because my big huge crash in 03 scared me.
But SERIOUSLY, record snowfalls and cold? That dumb groundhog! When I was a kid my Dad always told me winter was over after St. Patrick's Day. In Buffalo, he's pretty much spot on!
Stay safe and warm everyone! We're almost through this!

I feel your pain Kati! I'm up here in Massachusetts.. whenever I buy a bottle of the fluid I put only half in, then keep the other half in the back of the car and then if I run out.. I can use that to refill it til I can go to the store.. I usually make an attempt to get to the store within a day or 2 to get another bottle..
