Ohh I LOVE San Diego!!!
The Zoo is a MUST its awesome.
If you like shopping, head into the Gaslamp district -- its downtown about 2-3 blocks from the huge convention center near the water :-)

We go to SD at least once a year! Where are you staying?
One place I recommend if you love seafood is The Fishery in the Pacific beach neighborhood. My DH isn't a seafood fan, but even he raved about their fish and chips. And if you love seafood, yum yum it is so good there! They are not cheap though.
The beach we seem to frequent most while there is La Jolla beach, just north of San Diego. Very nice, although as with many places, parking can be a pain. Anyways, you can't go wrong with a lot of places in SD, and I LOVE the zoo. We go every year and walk the whole thing--great excercise! Balboa park is a lot of fun too.

I've been to SD and loved it. I also recommend the zoo! It's been several years since we vacationed in CA and we just spent the day in SD.
