Damon just called and said that Oliver has been screaming all morning and nothing he does calms him down. He ate between his tears. Damon said he has a bad rash and his poop looks like a different color than usual. I believe he said it was green. He doesn't feel feverish or anything. Yesterday evening he was very fussy and over tired. Right now he is taking a nap and Damon is going to call me at work when he wakes up. I might leave work early if he is still upset when he wakes up. BTDT Moms... any ideas?

I am not a mother, but my SIL had her baby in December and had a similar problem. She was breast feeding and stopped because she would get very fussy, then she was just on 'regular' formula and still would get very gassy and fussy, finally the doctor put her on a special formula (lactose type). I am sorry I don't know more details or better lingo, but when you explained what your baby was doing, it sounded like what my SIL was going through. She also mentioned her baby's poo would smell really bad and at her age (2 months old) it shouldn't be smelling as bad as it was. I am not sure if this helps.

ok I know you said green and that indicates a couple options but since there wasn't more of a description I will just share a link of baby poop "readings"... http://www.drjaygordon.com/developme...ricks/poop.asp
Usually its a to much iron in your diet or a dairy sensitivity causes a non-fever green poop. (if it was iron its usually more constipation, with the dairy issue its alot of gas and diarrhea) Is the milk he is getting right now recently pumped so you know what you ate? Did you eat anything odd/different or just alot more of something? It also can be to much fore milk with not enough hindmilk, this would also be a mucusy kind of poop (happens more with pumped milk since its harder to get the hindmilk with a pump).

My immediate first thought would be something that you ate, though if it were a dairy issue I would have thought it would have appeared before now. Ben was extremely fussy and gassy when I had dairy for a long time, and only now am I able to enjoy cheese in moderation so it won't bother his little tummy. Poor Oliver, I hope he feels better soon!!

My first thought was something that you ate. Alyssa had that reaction after I ate a lot of jalepenos--she SCREAMED for about 24-36 hours, got a horrible fire-y diaper rash, and had diarrhea. Poor girl was miserable and I felt horrible for eating those darned jalepenos!
According to the article that Angela posted, it could be teething.

I just talked to him again. He said his butt, private area, and lower back are very red. He said the skin looks a little blistered. He has had 3 mucusy bm today. I'm going to leave work in a bit to go take care of him. I did not eat anything new or different. My poor little baby. Do you think I should call his doctor's office?

I got home a couple hours ago. It's not as bad as Damon made it out to be. He does have a diaper rash and it's spread on his whole butt crack but it's not as red as I thought it would be. He seems to be fine and acting normal. I read that the green snotty poop is either a virus or teething. I don't think he is sick.
Thank for the replies and help.

Glad it's not as serious as it sounded and that Oliver has calmed down some. Poor thing.

Now he has little red bumps all over his chest and stomach. I think it's a heat rash but I don't know for sure. It's a little humid upstairs in our house and it's been warm the past few days. Maybe I had too many clothes on him? I have him in a long sleeve onesie right now. He has been fine all evening.

Aw, I hope little Oliver is feeling better today!
We just got a nasty teething rash cleared up on Lochlann. He's only ever had one or two rashes but this one was so bad it bled. He also has a heat rash type thing going on but I think his is more allergy related--I just switched back to free and clear detergent so we'll see if that works.
Oh, and he would get green mucousy poop when he was much littler and it was because he wasn't getting enough hind milk--he's been a one boob nurser ever since. I don't know how to get more hindmilk with a pump though, maybe just pump longer? Maybe it is a combination of not enough hind milk and a teething rash?
I hope he feels better really soon though!
