So tonight Curtis said pee and pulled on his pants. I felt his diaper and it was dry so I asked if he wanted to go on his potty and he of course said NO. So I let it be and put him back in his bed. Then he came back out and said it again and pulled me to his diaper drawer and I felt and yup, he had peed I should have made him go or atleast showed him what I meant. He's been saying NO when he means yes alot lately haha.

So he did it AGAIN. Said pee and pulled on his pj pants. So this time I went with it and we went to the bathroom. Sure enough he wouldn't sit on the potty, but he let me take his diaper off and pj pants. So we hung out and he kept on saying pee and we talked alot etc. Then all of a sudden he started saying Uh Oh... pee??? and so I kept on encouraging him to pee in his potty. Anyways, he starts peeing standing up, he freaked out a bit and stopped mid stream haha. So I said (as I moved away as he peed right on me haahhaha) no that's good keep going!! and grabbed the potty insert and held it up and sure enough he peed in it standing up haha. He LOVED that, just laughed away as he peed. So I showed him how to dump it in the toilet and we flushed, danced, clapped, bragged to daddy etc etc.

So now what? haha. I don't know what to think of the fact that he peed standing up, do I just let him do this until he learns to sit? I'm just clueless I tell ya!! He sees daddy pee all the time so maybe that's the only way he is going to do it??

Any tips?? I'm going to post this in the potty training section as well but thought I would ask you ladies.

i really can't help with the standing up thing. i would say if he is comfortable with standing up i wouldn't worry about it. i mean at least he is going to the potty right? and maybe when it comes to going poo try to explain to him that you sit down?? sorry i wasn't much help! Good luck though! Sophie has been going for about a month and still has problems sometimes. she has the runs right now and let me tell you!!! but it does get easier!!

Not sure about the standing up thing as Ryan still at 5 for the life of him won't stand to pee Hes never gone on the potty, from day one he went on the loo as he hated to sit on the potty, think he found it too hard on his bum

Maybe if you want him to stand, what about a small stool he could stand at the toilet on and pee, to encourage it even more I have seen some fun ball things you can put in the loo, think they dissolve after a while, for him to aim at ???

I've potty trained a lot of kids where I work, and some boys like to sit, some like to stand. If we have a boy who doesn't seem comfortable sitting, or has trouble aiming into the toilet, we have them stand. Basically, you see what works. It sounds like Curtis prefers to stand, so I'd just go with it! One trick you can try if he can't hold himself is to have him place his hands on the back of the toilet seat when he's standing, and that will help him to aim better.

Okay thanks girls! I didn't know if I should really force the issue of him sitting down or not... but I'll go with what he wants

So far he hasn't done it again so we'll see what happens

Liam started out sitting and quickly transitioned to standing. He actually makes more of a mess if he sits because the pee guard on his little potty seat for on top of the toilet actually just makes the pee go everywhere and we end up with a wet shirt usually. I think it's great if he wants to start out standing! When Liam started standing we just got a little step stool (it was actually his little potty with the lid down) and now he's big enough that he doesn't need it. I'd just keep encouraging Curtis--he'll get there! He's still a bit young yet so I wouldn't worry about it right now. We introduced the potty at about 18 months with Liam and he was exactly 2 1/2 when he was "trained." We still need diapers for overnight because he is in no way able to keep himself dry all night. We've started introducing Lochlann to the potty too and he actually really likes to sit. I'm sure he'll love to stand once he gets the hand of it though.

And Yay for Curtis!!! WTG!!!!
