OK, so We are planning a trip up north in August. Basically were taking the train up the California coast to Visit with DH's family In the Portland Oregon area and my Aunt In The Seattle area. My mother and maybe my 10 year old niece are going as well. Our first stop is gonna be in Seatlle for a few days and were hoping to fit in Vancouver and Victoria for a day. We want to see Buschart gardens. My moms been there but we haven't. So my question is Im looking for tips on things to do up there and maybe some good decently priced hotels and ways of Transportation. Cambria is of course going with us so It's gonna be interesting. Obviously we've never traveled with a baby before. I dont know if anyone know where the train station is and how far apart all the touristy things are. Also If your In Vancouver/Victoria what are some great things to do and how is transportation there as well. I know I have a while to go but I like getting a heads up. Thanks!!!

Oh I can totally set you up with info for Vancouver/Victoria lol

ok so in Victoria, Buchart is good, and while you're near, maybe check out the butterfly garden. It's very interesting and close by Buchart. Sidney By The Sea, is a cute touristy place near Victoria if you want to do the whole, walking through town, past the little shops sort of thing. it's not a must see, but it is really pretty if you go there on a nice day. Beacon Hill park, I definitely recommend. you could walk around the whole thing, it's BEAUTIFUL! and there's a little petting zoo there too not that Cambria will really appreciate that at this age though lol uhm... the Royal BC Museum is also pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing. Also, the underwater museum. It's neat, but also, not a real must see, but if you're near by, it's cool. My favorite places to go in Victoria is the inner bay and Fisherman's Wharf. but that's just me, i'm big on the ocean views an such. I could talk talk talk about Victoria. DF's family lived in outer Sidney and Saanich, so we go over there about 3 times a year and I LOVE it! If you were to rent a car and drive that would probably be best, but if you were going on public transit, as far as I know, you can get almost anywhere. I haven't taken transit in Victoria, but I hear it's pretty decent.

Now for Vancouver... some great places to go are: Stanley Park and the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World (should the mood strike you... from what I remember, it's pretty cool), Gastown (I highly recommend), Greater Vancouver Zoo, The Vancouver Chinese Garden (I have never been but I hear it's REALLY nice, and I can't wait to go!)... and for now I seem to be drawing a blank on other Vancouver attractions...OH! And the Vancouver Lookout, another place that I have yet to go, but from the pics, it looks really great! Transit is good, goes almost anywhere, and it fairly reasonable (cost-wise). Downtown you've got, not only the bus, but the skytrain, seabus and the westcoast express (in the evening and early morning) transit can get you just about anywhere.

Hopefully I was helpful lol Need anymore info lemme know, you've now got someone on the inside lol yeah i'm a nerd.... HAHA

oh as for decently priced hotels, the Helm's Inn in Victoria is good. Decent price, GREAT service and it's really close to all sorts of attractions.

And when is someone going to plan a trip to Barbados??? J/K

Amy, I don't know anything really about these states but do you have Google Earth? Whenever I'm going to travel I use Google Earth to help me locate and pinpoint my places of interest. Of course personal input is best but I still find it to be a great help.
