Since we made sure not to DTD near O, I fully expect AF to make an appearance at some point mid-vacation next week. I have heard that you can take just a few BCP or God Forbid, Plan B, to "throw off" AF. Does anyone know anything about this? TIA!

I've never tried it but I've heard a lot of people say the BCPs to delay a period work. I'm not totally familiar with it since I've never done it but I think you can start taking the pills a few days after the last period before the vacation. Hope that's not confusing or maybe someone else can explain it better.
ETA: I forgot to add that I've heard that doing this can mess up your cycle lengths as well.

DO NOT take plan B to stop it! You can take BCP to stop your period ...however with have a thyroid issue I wouldn't recomend it.
Just get a diva cup and you will have worries! I went jetsking/watersking/swiming/scuba/gym class and mine never leaked. Plus since you empty it once a day you don't have to worry about finding proper toilets and things--its a GREAT travel item!

I wouldnt recommend either. BCPs dont stop AF for everyone. And what you'll end up with is lots of intermittent spotting. Which IMO is worse than AF.

Yep, I picked up Instead cups because I was supposed to get AF on our honeymoon...AF was late so I never had to use it. I got them specifically for that purpose though!

OK I'll just admit it. I'm afraid of Diva/Instead leaking. Will I be sure I put it in right?

OTC Progesterone cream is another option. Force AF to come early by taking it for a few days and then stopping or taking it until vacay is over.

I'd try the instead cups too. BCP's only work if you're already taking them, and then you just skip the inactive pills and go straight to the new pack. It's not something to do all the time though, and I wouldn't use them to skip AF if you haven't been taking them. But the instead cups remind me of diaphrams, so it's not a big deal. I use a diaphram so I can DTD during AF, works like a charm. I was on a super heavy day one time, and the guy I was with didn't even know!

Michelle-from what my friend said, you can get a supertight seal. her's didn't even leak after 10 hrs in on a heavy day! just pick up some rubber gloves to use with them, it makes removal easier as well. you can't DTD with the divacup though, just the instead.

I could use a diva cup for 24 hrs on medium flow day and 12 hrs on a heavy day, and I went 48 hrs camping with light days. I have never had a leak. The trick is to just make sure you get the cup around your cervix and not on the side of it (a simple finger loop around it does that!)

I got the diva cup I don't know how many months ago but I haven't worn a tampon since! It has NEVER leaked for me... I absolutely adore it. So if you're looking for something you won't be messing with all the time, I'd suggest that... although it does take some getting used to the first couple tries to put it in (I was very frustrated) so that may be a sucky option since you aren't used to it yet. IF your'e looking for somthing to dtd with, I'd suggest the instead cups. Haven't used 'em, but I know their website says you can DTD With them in.
I'd avoid the BCP just because when you first start taking it it always makes you spotty and random for forevah... so I don't think it would help in your case since you aren't already on it.
BOOO for AF on vacation!
