Well something must have happened to my post.
Good news - baby is perfect, growing well, and she is a little over one pound!!! Woah!
Bad news - I am going on insulin shots...I do my first one tonight. Please pray that they get my sugars regulated with the insulin. I did not have to do shots with DS so I am a bit nervous....
Thanks girls!

I'm glad to hear your baby is growing perfectly.. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.. I have a feeling your going to be all right.. I was on NPH (long acting insulin) with Adriana.. Just remember bevel up.. It really doesn't hurt if you do it correctly.. I thought the finger sticks hurt more then the insulin shot..
Are you using the pen?

Thanks for the message Adriana's Mommy (I got it)! And thanks for the well thoughts. It's good to have someone to bounce stuff off of who has done the shots before. I don't know what "bevel" means? I am doing long lasting and short acting insulin....but I put both in at once...twice a day. I am not using a pen - a syringe? Didn't even hear about a pen?

I'm here for you.. Insulin can be vary scary at first, but before you know it, you'll be a pro..
When injecting bevel up, it's less painful.. Bevel up looks like this.. Just make sure the open side of the needle is facing upward when you inject.
Here's a good site to show you how to draw it up..
http://www.uwhealth.org/servlet/Satellite?...amp;c=FlexGroup
Here's what the insulin pen looks like.. What I like about the pen is that it's more sterile verses drawing something out of a vial.
Here's a video about the pen.. The pen I used was a multidose, but once it was empty I threw it away. The pen is more expensive then the vial, I paid $20 for 4 pens and I had insurance..

Thanks for the advice (I wish I knew your name instead of just "Adriana's Mommy" - he he he)....its really a help!
I will try to make sure I do bevel up - I'm about to do my first dose. I will probably stick with the syringes....with the cost of the meds alone and all the testing supplies I'd rather go the cheapest route at this point.
I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks ladies!
Melissa - nice to have a name for my friendly GD buddy! My first few doses went really well in terms of administering them....the needle doesn't hurt at all - I can't even feel it when I put it in - or the medicine...you are right - pricky the finger hurts more. So that is a relief. But my sugars crashed last night then after I ate - went down to 48 within a 1 1/2 of eating. This morning though my fasting was back up to 118....ahhh - my doctor said this could happen until my body get used to it and we get the right dosage set up. So far this morning its been a bit over an hour since I ate and I don't feel a crash.....hopefully it will all even out. The doctor said I'd feel better with the insulin over the pills...I hope she is right cause last night was not a good feeling....

Thanks so much girls! the shots are surprisingly easy - the needle is tiny but I'm not bothered by needles anyway....you have to be very meticulous on how you put in the medicine in the syringe and all that so that is a bit stressful.
My sugar crashed again after breakfast - 58 - but then after lunch it was 145 which is too high - its suppose to be less than 120 but no less than like 90 or 80. Ahhh I'm frustrated!

Sorry about the insulin, that does not sound like fun. But I'm glad your baby bean is ok
