click user CP at the top
Underneath "Settings & Options" click on Edit Options

there's a box in there to tick to "Enable Private Messaging"

Took me ages to figure the stoopid thing out By default it's disabled

Done. Thank you! I had to go thru and clean it out too! It has messages stored from 3 years ago!!!
