Ok so a group of us were out snorkeling today. Well 4 of us ended up in a small group of BABY jellyfish...they were very very small and it was to late once we realized what they were. So we all got stung...a few times each. Two of the guys have got some major histamine response going on from it (just a bunch of swelling at sites). I got stung a few times also (I have been stung before by an adult jellyfish so its not new to my system). The baby ones don't have pack much punch. We all got coated with some "mix" the dive master (we were on a scuba boat) had. Anyway, my bites you can't really even see, and IF you can it looks like a small bug bites. My little one is moving around like normal and I don't have even ONE of the side effects of being stung. I would normally not even think twice of this happening but since I'm pregnant I don't know if I should be worried. Anyone know anything about jellyfish stings while pregnant?

I'm not sure. Jellyfish are fairly common around here, but I have never heard of anyone having problems while pregnant. I'd just watch it & if it looked like it was getting infected or something I'd have it looked at. Being that they are baby jellyfish & you've been stung before, I'd think it'd be all right.

OK...wait for it....here, well in Barbados, the remedies are:
1 - get a guy to pee on it (yep, that's right!!)
2: if it was under you foot where you got stung then they would say to walk on a hot pavement barefooted.

WTH is this icon & post ---> stuff? hmmm?

I think you'd be okay although I don't know anything specifically about pg & jellyfish. I do know about the pee on it thing, lol. Ammonia takes the sting out, right?

I decided to error on the side of caution and called the doctor I saw a couple weeks ago....she said its not uncommon (I had to laugh a little at that one!) and that If I start getting sick to my stomach or a fever or turn black!?! I should come in but other wise nothing really to worry about. She was happy I did get the "mix" stuff on them right away and that I had been stung before--apparently its so common that all the dive/snorkel boats have this stuff on them and its the best treatment....I have no idea what was in that though. I hope it just wasn't pee in a bottle! HAHAHAHAHA They still look ok today-you can only even see two of them at this point. I left a message with my midwife back in the states also--she of course has no idea but was also going to look into it. Apparently not to many of her clients in Chicago get stung by jellyfish I'm glad I could keep her on her toes!

Well...my guess is there isnt a whole lot of research on it! If you feel/look fine other than the expected local irritation, baby is moving same amt as usual, I would say there is nothing to worry about.
