What did you ladies wear in the hospital when baby came? Or you first time mommies, what are your plans?

I've heard it can be nice to bring your own gown (of course one that can get bloody/yucky). And maybe a light robe when visitors come? I want to be able to move around the hospital floor comfortably and not worry about keeping the other gown closed behind me.What about slipper socks?

If you nursed, did you buy other gowns for when you got home?

I wore the hospital gowns the whole time. I brought a robe for the two times I walked the hallway. They provided nonskid socks that I wore. I did pack all my own items but never felt like wearing them.

When I got home I ended up buying a couple nursing PJ's. It made it easy for night time nursing.

I wore the hospital gowns the whole time. For me it was just easier, didn't have to worry about getting my own stuff dirty and they were a lot easier to put on after a c section. Mine tied on the side so I didn't have to worry about being exposed or anything. I brought my own slippers that I wore when I get up but I'm sure they had socks if I would have asked.

In the hospital I just wore what they gave me the first day. The second day I wore my own jammies since they were much more comfy.

At the birth center I arrived in my jammies and kept them on through delivery. Well I took off my boxers and underwear but kept my big t-shirt on. After I was able to shower I put on a pair of maternity yoga pants and another t-shirt. I felt so much more comfortable in my own stuff.

Hopefully I'll get my homebirth next time so obviously that will be all my own!

I did get a couple nursing nightgowns before I had Liam but I rarely used them. I didn't really like them. What I end up using is my regular jammies of boxers and t-shirts. What's easy in the beginning is cutting the sleeves off a big t-shirt that way I can just pull the big arm hole over my boob and its very easy access.

I just wore the hospital gowns and I brought a light bathrobe to wear when I would get up so my visitors wouldn't see my booty LoL.

I wore my own night gown I got a size too big so it made it easy to pop a boob out . I also wore a robe for when I moved around and I had my own slippers... but they got messy quick so I recommend just wearing socks!

Well when I first got to the hospital I stayed in their gowns but they have a opened back one and then a wrap around blue one that covers everything. I stayed in that all day and night and during my labor because at first I was leaking water and I didn't want to get that on anything. Then after I had Dusty I had a shower right away and changed into my normal clothing, which was comfy pants and tank and t-shirt then I wore that until I had a shower and changed into jeans and left to go home.

I did a lot of my laboring in the shower so I was only wearing a sports bra, but when I was up walking the halls I had on the hospital gown and a lightweight robe of my own. Afterwards I wore the hospital gown unless I knew visitors were coming and then I changed into one of my nursing gown/robe sets.

I did bring my own grippie socks for postpartum, but labored in the ones provided by the hospital as my water had already broken and I didn't want to leak amniotic fluid on my stuff.

I wore the hospital gown the first day. I had her at 9am and the next morning, I went home. So I really wasn't there too terribly long but found it convenient to wear their gowns the first day! I will probably bring my own clothes this time (as we will be staying at least 48 hours) to wear after my shower!

I will just wear what they have there, I will bring some sporting bras incase I want them while in tub. If you get two gowns its better wear one the normal way and then use the other as a cape/robe to cover your back side. (the ties do work well though not to show anything). I would recommend some type of jacket/robe type top for those pictures post baby and when company comes. The butt isn't the show me side, the slits in the front for BF is the part that gaps and flashes people. (these are worn post baby). As a nurse I would like to remind all those who plan to pack stuff, its a little easier for us to do our checks if your not wearing pants. (it can be done though). Also some hospitals will not let you take out "contaminated" items-so if you get blood/fluid/etc on the clothes they will have to be thrown away (check for hospital policy) but I wouldn't bring anything that you like or want to keep just in case. Also with slip socks, the hospital should have them. If you want to bring your own again be aware that you can bleed down your leg when standing up and will most likely get some on your shoes/slippers (and make sure they are NON-skid ones if you bring them!).

I did bleed on my socks at the hospital (my hospital didn't provide no slip socks) and there was no way I was taking them home with me! I threw them out right then and there!

Oddly enough, I didn't bleed on myself one bit at the birth center and I hemorrhaged worse there.

The whole first day I wore the hopsital gown - thru delivery and that night. The next day I wore my own nightie - it unbuttoned at the top and made it easy to nurse and pump. I didn't have many visitors but that whole second day I would just put on my robe if someone showed up. I think I got out of the bed a whole three times - all to use the potty. I had Harrison in the room with me so there was no need to go anywhere else - and I was terrified of dripping and feeling all that mess and I had stitches so I stayed in bed. I didn't have alot of dripping and mess though. The last day I got up and got dressed in comfy work out preggy pants and a regular t-shirt and we went home. I don't remember what I wore on my feet but I think slippers when I got up but stayed bare foot in the bed.

I wore a hospital gown. I'm not gonna bring my own clothes to ruin with blood, or go spend needless money on something that the hospital provides for me. I bled all over the first gown because one of the nurses shoved it between my legs after Seamus was born(the other nurse threw a hissy fit and yelled at me for ruining the gown...i hate those night nurses so not looking forward to them again!)

no special nursing shirts for me, I just wore normal jammies, dont see a need to spend the extra money.
