I knew this was gonna happen one day. He's so so bad. He pukes daily and has since he was about 2. I just think it's gross that my soon to be crawling baby may be in it. PLUS the big one, I think he may bite her one day. She loves to look at him and try and grab him. So far he's been pretty tolarable but when she try's to pet him when were holding her he'll put his paw up like he's gonna swat her. I dont trust him. He has in the past attacked my friend. It was before he was fixed and so that was the problem but he full on jumped on my friends head and cut her lip open. She was sleeping on the floor. Ugh! I really didn't want to do this but I dont know if I can trust him with a baby around

Oh Amy I'm sorry! It is really hard when you have a pet you love, but you have a baby now and that is soooo different!!! You have to do what is best for your family! And if the cat throws up (gross if Cambria gets in that) and could possibly snap or bite her... that is all just bad and very sad!!!
HUGS hun!!! Not sure if you could find a family to take your kitty!

I don't want to step on any toes, but how do you feel his quality of life is? If he still has good quality of life despite the puking and the grouchiness, then I don't think I'd feel right about putting him to sleep. If it's truly not going to work out, maybe you could find another home for him?
I'm not trying to downplay your concerns as I'm sure it's very worrisome to think he might hurt your baby and I know cleaning up puke is gross. I just know how much it broke my heart to euthanize my cat and that was because he was in pain and we couldn't help him medically.

I'm sorry. I know how attached your cat is to you and he was your baby before Cambria came along. I'm guessing rehoming him is out because of his attachment maybe? If it's an option try to find him a new home.
I can understand about having your baby crawl around where he pukes. I already hate the thought of Oliver crawling on our carpet. We have two cats (as I'm sure you remember). They track litter all over, shed like crazy, and one of my cats has a bad problem with pooping outside the box when her IBD flares up. We vacuum like crazy and try to keep it clean but I don't feel it's ever going to be clean enough to meet my standards. I wish we had the money to rip it all out and get hardwood floors. It's not gross looking and it is clean but still not clean enough cause I know she has pooped in a couple spots more than a few times.

I agree that if his quality of life is otherwise okay (minus the puking which is normal for him) then I'd hope you'd try to rehome him before just putting him down. I'm sure that's not an easy decision to make, but I just hate to think of a good cat being put down or sent to a pound to be put down when there are other options. As far as the puke thing, I'm sure you clean it up whenever you see it... and it's not like Cambria is going to be crawling around out of your sight all the time. Plus, she throws up on herself already I'm sure. I know I don't have any kids, and I'm a huge animal lover so I really can't truly understand the position you're in... but I do personally feel like if you keep your home spotless and never let your kids get dirty, then their immune system just doesn't have a change to build itself up and it'll lead to a sicker kid later on. I'm not saying Cambria should play in cat puke (lol) I'm just saying that if one day she gets some on her, gross as it may be, it's not the end of the world. Him possibly attacking her is definitely the bigger issue... is there a way to keep him in a different part of the house or away from her when she's exploring? I imagine there's the point where you're with her all the time... and then she's old enough to know to never try to pet or play with the kitty or she will get hurt. Maybe you could still make this work? Do you fear he will just go out of his way to attack her or that she will be trying to pet him and then he'll hurt her? If it's the later, then hopefully it's something you guys could work around. I'd hate to see your cat be put down when he's not sick. I'm sorry you're in a position where you don't feel like your pet is safe to have around your baby... that really sucks.

He's 10 going on 11 and is lately throwing up so much that he's loseing weight. We try and feed him more and he just throw's up. He'll go a few days being fine and then throwing up 5 times a day for days. He doesn't like anyone but DH and I. He hisses and try's to smack everyone. He's even bite people who try and touch him. It's really annoying. We always have to lock him in another room when we would have people come over. I have to take him to the vet to see how his health now days. I dont want to have to put him down but I wouldn't trust him with other's.

sounds like you kitty is probably in pain if its being all irritable and not wanting attention (i get the same way! LOL). I'm so sorry to hear he's not doing well. I have never had to make that choice for a pet...I hope I never do. BIG HUGS!!!

Oh Amy, I'm so sorry!!! I know how hard this is....we think our dog, Tiny is going to have to be put down as well. We've seen him have two seizures. We don't know how many we haven't seen. It's so hard! Tiny loses control of his bladder at times!

I'm sorry that you have to make this decision He's pretty old and may not be all that healthy. My mom's cat is also 10 and has had a lot of issues lately, but she is fine around Reid (doesn't come near him, and she's declawed - we didn't do that though, she came that way when we adopted her).
If you took him to a shelter, he probably wouldn't get adopted and be put down anyway, sadly and it would be hard to find him another home because of his 'tude.
Good luck, I'm so sorry!
