I am very excited about this! The little girl, Frankie for short, is 13 months old, loving, easy-going, and fun to be around. She warmed up to me immediately when I met her on Saturday and things went well-- I haven't felt so comfortable about a family I met on care.com {Nanny finding/match website} in quite a bit.
It seems like I will be there ~42 hours a week {to include Mom's commute}, but that includes her 2-3 hour nap each day. Everything I do makes her laugh and she's very sociable. I completely agree with her parent's parenting style which makes the blend that well. They are about a 15 minute's drive away, so it's not too bad at all.
I was there 7 hours today and expected to begin normally full time Monday, but early this evening, the dad called and asked if Wednesday would be OK. Of course! I will be working more than Mike, and making more than him until he begins his county job {date now tentatively 4/15}. That weirds me out a bit {and as a modern feminist woman I can't put my finger on why} but I'm glad I can make such a large contribution to our family and thank him for completely supporting me for 5 months.
Health considerations are minimal, and only involve allergies to their cats. This is a dream job that I can do every day well, and with energy. I'm over the moon!

That's so wonderful!!!! It sounds like such a great opportunity for you! I'm glad you even agree with their parenting techniques, that will help loads.
My bestfriend is a nanny for a couple families, she rotates through them. She builds such strong bonds to the kids and always has such fun stories to share.
I hope everything goes smoothly and you love every minute!

sounds great hun! and cats arent overly social are they? maybe the cat will just skidaddle and leave you alone so you can minimize your allergy.
and Frankie, omg how cute is that name! my lil sis had a little girl friend named Joey and she's just beyond adorable! i love those boyish names!
