TMI here:
DH and I had sex last night. I run to the bathroom and use kegels to push out all the fluids. Then like 4 hours later, getting ready for bed, I use the bathroom and a large glob of discharge fell in the toilet. I figured it was just other seminal fluid that didn't pass earlier. This morning, I pee again and more mucus came out, yellow in color with this vein looking thing that was red. Went pee like a hour later and there was yet another glob, this one was still yellow but much darker in color.
So I start to think this might be my plug. I charted and used FAM before we got pregnant so I'm well aware of what is normal secretions from my body. But then I second guess that it may still be seminal fluid. And having sex could have caused the red "vein" and all these menstral like cramps I've been having all morning.
I've had 7-8 BH contractions each hour since I woke up. I feel alot of pressure and get slight menstral cramps each time. I have my routine OB appointment today at 1:30pm and wondering if I should just wait until then to do something about this. Do you think the sex has confused my body or maybe I actually softened my cervix?

I dont want to say anything for sure because obviously I have no clue, but from what ive heard about plugs and seeing my sisters it sounds like that!? But then again, like you said it can be seminal fluid, but ive never had it come out in globs! I dont know I just realized I was not helpful at all! Sorry! Im really glad you have an OB appt today!

I've never BTDT, but it sounds like it could be your plug.. Also I think someone (Angela S maybe?) had mentioned something about more than 4 BH in an hour is reason to call the dr.. I could be wrong tho.. I hope the dr gives you some answers!!

That sounds like plug to me. NO BATHS,SEX or ANYTHING up there until you find out if it was or not. Otherwise you could get an infection!
..and please call your doctor-they may try to get you in early!
oh and yes the magic combo is 4-1-1. More then 4 BH lasting more then 1 minute each during 1 hour.
Call you doctor for that.

That's the very reason I've been to the hospital 3 times and gotten Terbutaline shots 2 of those times. Every time, even with patterned contractions, my cervix has been long and closed.
I called my OB and she said to just wait until my appointment this afternoon, since alot of BH are a common thing for my pregnancy.

Yup sounds like your plug. Try not to worry about it, your plug will rebuild the mucous until it's ready for baby time!
Both my pregnancies were a lot like yours is--tons of BH! I know how concerning it can be but I had to learn to just take it all in stride because that's whats normal for me and it's probably just whats normal for you! My BHs started at 20 weeks with Liam and 17 weeks with Lochlann and neither one was born premature. Especially after sex they would really pick up--it's what jump started my pre labor episode at 39 weeks with Loch. When I got to be as far along as you are it wasn't uncommon for me to have them every 3-5 minutes, lasting about a minute, for an hour or two. I'm glad you have an appointment this afternoon though, just to be on the safe side.

I started losing my plug over a week ago... and what you described sounds just like it. But the mucus plug does regenerate... so I would call your dr, and rest up. You might have to just be careful with DTD and rest as much as you can.
Good lluck

I've never experienced losing a plug so I have no real world experience to give you but I'm anxious to hear what they say they think is going on at your appt. I got to admit....the preggo body does really weird things toward the end so it may be just your body's way of saying..."we're getting close!!!"

So I went to my appointment and I did lose my plug! She checked my cervix, said it's still closed but it's shorter and alot softer. OB said that DTD probably stimulated what was probably already going to happen this week. We're just one more step closer!
I also asked about all the BH contractions. She told me that's it just going to be normal for my pregnancy and to even stop counting them. So she says to be concerned when they start hurting/cramping or if anything leaks out that seems different. She also mentioned that instead of starting my every week appointments at 37 weeks, she wants to see me at 35 and 36 weeks as well. I asked was she implying that I may not make it to my due date, but she just smiled and said she didn't want to say anything. "You may still see me at 41 weeks, or he could come alot sooner." She reminded me that after 36 weeks she won't stop labor. But then she mentioned that in my particular case (since baby is doing so well too) that she may even consider letting it happen at 35 weeks if it comes up.
Wow, that was alot of news to handle.

Wow Morgan that is a lot of news to handle. Just know though that a baby born at 36 weeks is often very healthy. My son was born at 36 weeks and he was a healthy 6 pounds 7 ounces....other than staying in the nursery for about 6 hours after he was born to get his temp up and hold it on his own (which could have happened to a full term baby) he was perfectly fine and like a full term baby! He's still perfect to this day. So I hope he bakes long enough to make it to a safe time for you and him.....but how exciting right! It is getting so close!!!

I'm glad everything is fine! I hope he continues to bake a little longer but it won't be a big deal if he comes a little early. Liam was 3 weeks early but Lochlann held on til his due date and I had the BH game start earlier with him.
I was told to stop counting them too--easier said than done! Especially when some of them are intense and uncomfortable but not "the real thing." I had to stop and breathe through them starting at about 30 weeks or so.
