So I promised Angela I would get this done like...a long time ago I still have to post my birth story on there. And the pictures are too big but I'm so tired I will have to fix them later!
Warning- not for the faint of heart! If you think you might be grossed out by the sight of a raw and/or cooked placenta you might not want to look

THANK YOU! How hard was it to separate from the membrane? And why not just leave the membrane on-why does that get removed?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that and am super glad you took pics of the process along the way! I'm going to link it to DF... I'm not familair with all the benefits but I remember posting about plasagna, etc. lol and I think pill form would be MUCH easier! Maybe I can get DF to do it so I don't have to mess with it, lol.

Off the top of my head (there are more).....
helps prevent baby blues and depression, gives you more energy, helps your uterus return to normal size faster (which decreases your postpartum bleeding time), increases your milk supply (I hear by a ton!), pain reliever.....it pretty much helps you return to your pre-pregnancy state faster and easier. Placenta Benefits.info - Mother Nature, for Mothers. Avoid the baby blues and enjoy a natural, healthy postpartum period with your new baby.
But like everything some believe it some don't. The placenta is used for many of the old Chinese herbal medicines!

Thanks ladies, I'm glad you liked it!
Angela you have to leave the membranes on when you cook it because that's what helps keep it together, otherwise you would have a big gooey mess lol! I think I need to make that a little bit clearer in the blog.
Oh, and it was a bit tough to get off, you really have to pull on it.

OH I get why you leave it on for cooking, but why not just also bake and chop up the membrane also? Is there a reason you do get rid of it...i guess I never broke down what parts of the placenta are useful-I just assumed the whole thing.

I guess I figured it was like taking the skin off chicken when you cook it But I read somewhere that you should take it off, I don't think it has any beneficial properties.

I was kind of nervous that I would be grossed out by it, but don't worry! It's different when it's YOUR placenta kwim?
And for the record Jeremy said that it smelled really horrible, but I didn't mind the smell at all

Same here! But I get what you mean about it being different when it's your own placenta I'm sure I could do it.
