What is your favorite nursing position?

Mine is side laying. It seems to be his favorite too.

How did everyone else start their bf journey?

When I first started nursing Oliver we did the football hold until I wasn't so sore from my c/s. After that we mostly did craddle and then I started trying the side laying. It took awhile to master the side laying position because when he was tiny it was hard to get him to latch on and stay on. His little head needed help. Now he is a major pro.

I still haven't been able to master the side laying position, I wish I could!

I think the first time I nursed him was the cradle hold, and then we alternated between cradle and football. I almost always nurse him on the left boob because that one works better, and he just lays on the boppy pillow on his side and I surf the internet

If I feed him on the right boob we use the football hold though, that's the only way I can do it for some reason, it's really weird lol!

We started with the cradle hold and we are still doing that. Unless I want to sleep then we do the laying down one haha. We don't like it too much though because 1. he spits up way more unless I wake up and burp him which apparently I forget to do haha and 2. I doesn't empty my boobs quite as well yet, but he's getting better!

My favorite is side laying too. 2nd would be the cradle hold, but its evolved into him sitting on my lap and nursing because he's so long I don't have to hold his bottom up anymore really.

I was sooo happy that the lactation consutlant at the hospital tought me the side laying position. I would have never known until weeks later! lol.

We are almost exclusively cradle hold. I only lay him on the boppy at bedtime though, otherwise we just nurse wherever we are...so he's more kind of draped across me.

At the beginning, we used the football hold or cross cradle a lot, and I don't know when that changed...football got harder as he got bigger. Side laying never worked for us, my boobs are too big and he likes them to be supported when he munches!

Mine is the cradle hold and I think his is too.

How did everyone else start their bf journey?

We always did the cradle hold. It was only when he got to be a bit older that we could do side lying during the night but only on the right side. The left side is still cradle but more of a lying down cradle, it's hard to explain.

I've only ever done the cradle hold (except for the middle of the night side lying) with both boys. We all seemed to prefer that. Even now Liam will ask for "side" (what we call nursing) and he means he wants to be held that same way, next to my boob, and have me sing to him.

I did do the football hold a couple times with Liam when I had a clogged duct to get it to unclog faster. His chin hit it at a different angle and helped it unkink.

What is your favorite nursing position?
My favorite is side laying. Right now, he sits on my lap because we're getting over colds and that's the only way he can eat and breathe. During the day, we mostly cradle, but at night we side lay so we can both sleep. When we sleep, he sleeps in my arms and I always have my arms around him. I was the same way with Edward when he slept with us. But the main two positions are side laying and cradle.

How did everyone else start their bf journey?
We did only cradle. Since he was in the NICU after my c-section, when he came home, my pain was gone. And during the night, he took a bottle because we had a hard time with nursing, and the lactation consultants couldn't help in the hospital because I couldn't hold him and they didn't recommend nursing. For most of his time in the NICU he was on a feeding tube. So I pumped, then when he came home, I pumped at night.

Kirsty always lay on the boppy until about 2 weeks ago, I've started using boppy a bit less and using the cradle hold. We also started doing the side lying for her feed before bed.

We nurse in the cradle hold during the day and the side-laying position at night because we co-sleep. I started in the football hold.

Side laying is both of our favorite. I cradle hold him while PBF but its getting harder. I started with the football hold because I had a c/s, but a week later I started cradling him. Side laying saved my sanity I got so much more sleep when I started feeding him this way.
