So I was planning on registering at Target and BabiesRUs. But, I hear Target has a horrible return policy. And, we have Walmart’s in the area, and even though I normally avoid Walmart like the plague, they are way cheaper! Like $5-$10 cheaper per product in a lot of cases. I know many feel Walmart is a menace to society or whatever, but I have a baby coming and that don't come cheap! Plus with Walmart you can ship to store for free in most cases, and Target charges for shipping (and around here they never have what you want in the store either).

My question is, when you have several registries, do they contain completely different items or do they overlap? I know I have family out of town that don't have a Walmart, so I am wondering if I should put more on the babiesrus registry even though some things can be found cheaper at Walmart.

You're right, target sucks. Every bride I've talked to who registered at Target had problems... but I felt like we HAD to anyway... and we've also had problems with duplicates, etc. The main thing is they're really hit or miss about updating the registry... so people don't realize they're giving you something you already have.

For our wedding we have three registries and I've been really anal about making sure that if 2 of the stores offer the same product, we register for the cheaper one. Even the people who don't have a walmart near them (where is that?! ) could still shop your registry online.

Target sucks I agree! LOL
I would put everything on both so that people who don't have one store can still get that item (yes this will probably involve more returning stuff but I think it will be worth it).

I put similar items on both registries. In my case, most people had access to only Walmart, but not BRU.
I didn't have problems with my returns to Walmart or BRU. Most people got me stuff that was not on either of my registries anyway.

I have 3 different registries and Ive put everything the same mostly. I just went through the store and whatever I wanted, it got scanned. I didnt do Target bc of their crappy return policys. I did BRU, Buy Buy Baby, and Burlington Coat Factory.

I had NO PROBLEMS at ALL returning items to Target. As long as they are on your registry, they should exchange them for store credit.

Apparently the people shopping for me didn't realize they have to have the cashier scan off that they purchased an item, so I had tons of duplicates.

I registered for my wedding at Target and another store and didn't have any problems. But maybe it was because we didn't get that many gifts !!

I didn't have any problems with Target for my wedding registry - but that was 5 years ago...

The only evil thing that they and Wal-mart do, is if you get a gift receipt with something you will still only get the lowest value of the item. Even if the person giving you the gift bought it at full price, if it went on sale or clearance after they bought it you would only get that sale or clearance value. Isn't that total crap and completely shady? I didn't believe it, so I tested it out at Walmart w/ items I bought and had the gift reciepts and the regular receipt just to see what happened. Well, they tried giving me the sale price. So I whipped out the regular receipt and even the cashier was like "wow, that's horrible!"
