So we have a landline phone with ATT that we have only for emergencies and also for our DSL. We've had lots of problems with it (both before and after Dh accidentally cut the line putting in a sprinkler system, oops). They came out a couple months ago and relaid some of the line, which helped, but the line is still staticky. We don't care really, because as long as our DSL works, we are happy. We also live in a gated community and there is a box that will dial our home number so that we can dial 9 and open the gate for guests. Well, this never works (phone rings once and then stops) but we don't know if it's the phone or the gate box or what.
Anyway, last month our bill had two charges to directory assistance (411) for $3 total. Which was not right because we never use our phone and no one else is in our house. I called ATT and they said that if the charges were there, they were made, but she would take them off as a courtesy this one time. I also took off my long distance plan (costing us $5 a month and we aren't using it) and added an extra $5 charge to double our internet speed.
I just got the bill for this month and now we have charges to directory assistance again for $4.50. Augh!!! I know when I call they aren't going to want to take them off because they already did it last month but we are NOT making these calls. Something must be haywire with our phone but I have no idea how this is even possible. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to pay for services I am not receiving, that is ridiculous and we aren't made of money here! I just know they won't believe me when I say we didn't make the calls but it's true.
