OMG!

My brother's girlfriend filed a restraining order against us. It's for herself, Grace (my neice), and my brother. This is just beyond crazy!! This girl is a VERY unstable awful mother. My Mom is at our house right now (I'm at work) because she watched Oliver for the day. We think she will have one waiting for her too.

This all started because we told my brother how awful she is and how unstable she is. We told him she is not a good Mom. Damon got ticked off a couple weeks ago and texted her telling her off in a few words. This turned into a big deal and we all had word over the phone. I stayed calm and just told my brother what I thought. My Mom and his GF got into it over the phone. None of us threatened her in any way. They live over 3 hours away from us. I see them maybe 1-2 times per year. To be honest I don't want to be in there lives because I don't agree with their lifestyle.

Soo.. what makes me beyond mad is that his GF stays high ALL DAY LONG. She smoked and stayed high (pot as far as we know) during her pregnancy too. She is a huge liar and very unstable in so many ways. It would take way to much time to get into it all. She has a past history as a heroin addict too. It makes me sick to think that my poor niece has to grow up with a mother like her. That worse thing is my brother thinks she is a good Mom. He is in a very bad relationship with her. He has supported her for over 8 years. She treats him very poorly. Blah Blah Blah.. I'm rambling but just can not believe that this idiot severed us with a restraining order!!

Now.. How is this going to affect me?? Will this show up on a back ground check? This is awful since I'm trying to get a job as a Nanny.

I have no idea how this will affect you but i wouldn't think just filing a restraining order alone could do anything. I'm sorry! Hopefully nothing more comes from this! It makes me so sad when people do drugs while pregnant or with kids around.

I don't know how the restraining order will affect you, hopefully someone with experience will hop on and help you out! As for the other stuff, if she's getting high all day then you need to call DCFS. It's not safe for the baby to be in that kind of family situation.

I have no idea how that would effect you, but since the background checks only show convicted crimes I would think your ok there.
Has anyone in the family reported her to DCF?

I don't know anything about restraining orders but I hope it doesn't have any effect on you. It's terrible thing though! I hope your niece is not disadvantaged because of her life.

OMG- what a nut job. Let her file the order and go about her crazy ways. Like you said, it's just so sad because she has a baby girl

I have no idea if it would show up on a background check. Can you Google it?

Oh Resi - this sounds so sad for your brother and niece and so ridiculous on her part...she's a total wacko....I have no idea if having a restraining order put on you affects you ....know any attorney friends? That's who would know I would think. I hope it gets better eventually...somehow...someway...

OK first of all It wont affect you. When I was younger and lived with my mom we were in the process of moving cause we had a new land lord that raised our rent by $1000 so we were out of there. Well, she was pretty much crazy and on a sat she came into our house went into my bedroom where I was asleep and started yelling at me. " What are you doing here, your supposed to be moved out, your tresspassing" etc etc. We told her we were moving by the weekend but or rent was up on that monday. I had every right to be there and she was breaking in entry! Well the next day I got a restraining order AND a Supena ( SP ). Well to make a long story short when I went to court ( I won BTW, she was in the wrong the judge said ) and asked the judge If either of those papers got would affect me in the future and he said no.

OK, *** at her, She is stupid! Isn't this the same person who's mother commited Suicide? Ummm, hello? Obviously she's un stable right now and that alone should tell you how un fit she is to be a mother. If she wants to play that game then I would call Social servies and say she's using drugs and had a tramatic experience happen to her and you fear for her childs life...

I have nothing to add but just wanted to say OMG that is terrible! What a crazy gal! I hope you all figure it out and all... and don't let it bother you to much. And someone should report her drug usage so your niece isn't brought up like that. Thats not right!

I don't think it's a restraining order. After we looked into it further it looks like some kind of order of protection. We can give our side. I have not looked at it closely yet because I have been taking care of Oliver since I got home from work and just finally got him to sleep. Anyways.. she made a bunch of bs up. She said we are stalking her, calling, telling her to die, sending messages asking if she is dead yet.. it goes on and on. None of it's true. I have not spoke with this girl since Dec. 21st. That was the last time I saw her. She lives 3 hours away and I have never liked her or wanted any type of relationship with her.

We have not done anything about calling CPS because I don't want to get involved at this point. I'm honestly scared she might come to our house with one of my brothers guns and shoot us if she is crazy enough. My Mom hasn't called because my brother and her are not married and he doesn't have any rights without a paternity test.

Uh, so get a paternity test! You can make an anonymous report and if it becomes a custody case, the courts will order a paternity test.

We agree he needs to get a paternity test. However, he seems to think she is a good mother

and loves her. He isn't ready to leave her and see her for what she is. He is mad at us. We are looking into the CPS. I just met a new friend who is a social worker and I'm going to talk to her about it this Friday.

omg craziness Resi, I really hope this all blows over soon. That is really no life for ur little neice to grow up in. She sounds like a total nutbar on top of the persistent drug use.
