Where should I go to buy them? I have one nursing bra that I bought at BRU, it's a soft sort of sleep bra and it is working out okay. It's a medium and seems to fit decently although I might could go a bit bigger. The downside to BRU is you can't try things on there.
Do I need to get fitted for a bra? Does it have to be super supportive? (I HATE underwire) I'm not sure what to do because I can't leave Matthew and I also don't see myself taking him along with me to a store to get fitted for a bra. Obviously just having one is kind of pain.
Also I have 3 pair of organic cotton breast pads. They are okay but they aren't coutoured enough to wear in public and I need more so I don't have to keep washing them. Does BRU have any or are they all disposable ones? Any suggestions on where to order online or where to buy in stores? How many do you think I need? Will I need to keep wearing them every day or just for now while my milk is coming and I have more leakage?
Thanks in advance ladies.

I know you wanna stay away from underwire because it can cause clogged ducts on many. We JUST have another thread on nursing pads going -so check that for people's suggestions. I also was told you should never wear the same bra two days in a row (same with non-nursing ones) because it ruins the elastic.

Hm I got my bra from Thyme Maternity. I believe that's a Canadian only store though. I also buy my nursing pads from any grocery store basically. They are just lansinoh, I believe BRU would carry that.. but they are disposable. I am still wearing them 3 1/2 months later and most likely will for a while now. My other breast keeps on leaking when I let down... rather annoying haha. Plus I wake up with them filled as well... Really the amount just lessens for me but it's still there months later. I think that differs for everyone though.

absolutely if you can get fitted for a bra - do so. I'm sure you've read about my bra experience! lol Kirsty was born on the Wed, my milk came in on the Sun... Mon morning 9am I was at the bra shop begging for help lol! The bra I had on was 3 sizes too small and the only reason I wanted a new one was I felt the straps digging into my shoulder all the time.
If it wasn't for the strap, I wouldn't have known it was too small. The bras I took are underwired, I've not had any issues with it, but there are loads of wired/non-wired ones out there.

HAHA you don't have to wash them each time. I have three. I just don't wear them two days in a row but I wear them about 3-4 days before washing them (less if I'm sweting). thats just what I was told to do by the "bra people" when I was getting my very expensive nice bras---they said the bra will last longer and give you better support if you do this because other wise it ruins the elestic.

I just bought two at Motherhood Maternity - the girl measured me and everything - I don't get much bigger when my milk comes in - at least it didn't with DS and I expect it to be the same with this one. No underwire and I love it!But again I'm kind of small (B size) so I don't need a wire. Check out the "Best Breast Pads" thread - Jess had a great suggestion for breast pads especially if you have ALOT of milk leaking. I never did so I might get some of both - these wool washables and disposables that the ladies suggested!

Stay away from underwire, it can cause mastitis & plugged ducts. You can easily measure yourself at home. Here are instructions. It's super easy, and you may be surprised at how big of a cup size you need: What is Your Size?
I personally love love love the Bravado bodysilk seamless nursing bra. I'm a 32E and wear a medium, so you'd likely fit into a small.
See the other post about pads. I personally recommend lanacare with ekstra wool breast pads.

I am totally getting some Bravado bras for when we have our next baby. The only ones I have now are from Motherhood Maternity and while they're ok and do the job they have all fallen apart rather quickly. None of them have lasted me nearly as long as I nurse (not much longer than 6 months before they start falling apart). I actually haven't even worn a nursing bra since Loch was at least a year old. My regular bras work well and I think I'll stick to them after EBF is done with the next.
I'm not a leaker so breast pads are something I only need the first couple months and that's just to catch the leakage from the opposite breast when feeding. I can't remember the last time I needed pads but they're still in my drawer, waiting for next time. Mine are homemade out of cloth diapers and I love them! I have about 2 dozen which is more than I really need but it's nice to have some extras. They also doubled as hot compresses the couple times I had clogged ducts with Liam.

^^^ I know you can find them all over online. No idea on a real store though--I would love to test one out first!
So BTDT moms---what should you look for in a good nursing bra?
