ok so our pooping thing Isn't going good so I had to take her to the peid again. Of course her normal Peid wasn't there so I had to see someone else. The Women I saw was her very first Peid which I didn't like but whatever..I had to take her in right. So she pretty much said she is very constipated and told me to try and give her 2 OZ's of water at every feeding more juice and If I want I can put Benifiber in her Formula. Ugh, my poor child. She hadn't pooped since wednesday but of course went on her own Sunday night. But It was Huge and hard and full of lil pebbles...She was crying and turning red when she was doing it...Her butt looked like she was getting a hemoroid..Poor baby. She also asked what I was feeding her and was surprised when I said she doesn't have any interest in solid's at all. So she recommended I enroll her in a feeding class over at CHOC ( Childrens hospital of Orange County ). She put us in but said it takes 7-10 days to get enrolled and after that Ill get a letter and need to call and make an appointment. I guess ( And I really hope ) they will evaluate her and teach her how to eat. Since she's having major food adversion's...But on a good note she slept through the night 4 times this week!!! And has been pretty good about when she goes to be she'll fall asleep. Before she would wake at least 3 times before giving in to fall asleep...Hope this is the start to something good!

Now I could be wrong (ped is NOT my thing LOL) but I thought most juices were BAD for poop problems because most juices are so sugar based? (which would also maybe explain the lack of wanting to eat because she is getting the calories from her drinks---which is a huge health problem for most of the usa actually). Are you using store juice or fresh squeezed juice? Just a thought that may help. And I know I personally don't hardly eat when I'm backed up---so I was wondering what happened first----did she get backed up then start not wanting solid foods, or the other side?
Does she eat prunes?
I know two of my friends have child/babies that did this same thing----I can't remember for the life of me what they did though. I know one has a child that actually takes laxatives on a regular basis at 3yrs old. And that girl eats fruit like its candy!

You know, we had the same poop problems with Liam the entire time he was on formula. No matter what formula he was on (and even when he was only having one bottle a day) he just could not poop on his own for the life of him! We did have to go the laxative route a time or two (not fun!) and had to give him an ounce or so of watered down prune juice just to get him to poop. When he was older and able to have solids we gave him prunes on a regular basis otherwise he wouldn't go. Then when he was off the formula (at about 5 1/2 months) he had no problems again. We also had to stear clear of binding foods like the baby cereals, bananas, apples, etc. Maybe she just has a hard time digesting things with more substance. Maybe that's her aversion to solid foods because she knows its what will back her up and cause her so much pain and discomfort. I think as her little body grows and matures she will be able to handle these things better and its not an uncommon thing for a baby her age to not be interested in solids. Its recommended to start solids the second half of the first year--so between 6 months and a year!

And YAY for sleeping better! That must help you out a ton! I know dealing with these kinds of issues is more overwhelming when you don't have much sleep behind you.

Angela, I may be completely wrong, but whilst pregnant I took a baby laxitive which was prodominantly sugar. It's called Lactulose. My friend at work had to give it to her daughter when she was small, very bad for teeth as it's like drinking liquid sugar (*gag*). Just a thought there! Poor Cambria It must be horrible for her... and you!

Would she eat finger type foods? Dried fruit? Apricots are good to help poops. Also mango which is sweet tasting so she may like it better. Mangoes are a very strong fruit so a little bit may make a big difference.

I don't know if this is what Angela meant but when I said laxitive I meant the suppository kind, not the kind you drink.

Poor Cambria!! I'd try watered down prune juice and see if that would work. My friend had to give it to her daughter to get her to go as well.

you can either try apple juice or prunes like everyone has said - did you pedi say anything about light karo syrup? not quite sure how much but I have heard that its also good for constipation in babies, and its natural sugars - it says 10g per 2 tablespoons (which I think is how much you give her...)

omgoodness....Earlier I felt horriable for her. She had that cry and look on her face like she was pooping...so after about 5 mins of painful crying i take her upstairs to change her. I open the Diaper and look and there's her poop...STUCK!!!! Poor child....She cryed for 30 min's! I gave her the left over 1OZ juice she didn't finish earlier. After she calmed down I peaked back in her diaper and it had gone back in.... 30 mins later she started crying again.....So I did some bycyles and pushed her knees to her belly...Luckly It came out. Her butt was and is sooooo red and there was a little bit of blood on her poop. Im gonna go get some Sapositories tomorrow. You are right though Angela even my Peid said they dont want babies to relay on juice in order to poop. BUT if nothing is working and thats what will get her to poop she said to give her 2OZ's and dilute it. Since she wont eat food at all ( not even table foods ) I can't get prunes into her.....OK Ill have to finish this later I have a tired crying baby on my leg's

Oh no! Poor Cambria! Unfortunately Liam was the same way. I hated using the juice just to get him to poop but it's the only thing that worked (usually--I did have to go the suppository route) and a little juice is a million times better than a baby in pain from constipation. And it had to be prune juice, apple juice just made his constipation worse. I've even had to use a suppository on him as recently as a few months ago. I really hope she feels better soon!

Poor Cambria. I hope the juice helps. Sounds like constipation I got once from not drinking enough water.

poor cambria! glad she's liking the prunes now, though.

abby has constipation issues also (lol...she just saw me posting this and said "that's my name!") so i feel for you. i usually give her babyfood carrots (she is a very picky eater still but she will eat this stuff) and that makes her go. i also have this oral laxitive for kids by fleet...all natural & chewable which she took once and i guess it was okay. but i hear if you can get the kids hooked on prunes that's the easiest solution. i think we'll try to get joshie on prunes/prune juice when he's 6 mos. because i do not want 2 kids w/ constipation.

my brother used to be exactly like cambria w/ the stuck poopies...i think my mom used to give him prunes, but i can't really remember as it was 25+ yrs. ago.

Awww, Lil Ab's!! She's so cute...How is she liking being a big sister? The Oral stuff I got her is Choc flavor...ewwww...I dont think that would be so good, but whatever. I only was able to get maybe 8 bites of the prunes in so I dont know if that will really do anything but Ill try again tomorrow.

I almost put the Benifiber in her bottle tonight but then thought It might give her gas so I better wait till the AM. Thats all I need, an up all night baby. She's been really good about going to bed and sleeping through the night for almost 2 weeks now. She's only woke up 3 times in 2 weeks. BUT I do see another lil tooth bud coming in so Im seeing some long night ahead again, haha...poor kid can't catch a break!
