Hi girls,
I am coming out of JM exile... the break did a lot of good things. No matter how much I love you girls (and you know I do!) after the 2 miscarriages and the diagnosis of genetic abnormalities I just could not be so immersed in TTC and baby culture for a while.

We did end up getting a fertility workup done and met with a genetic counselor. Our odds of having a first trimester miscarriage during any given pregnancy are 50-60%. Then there is a 10% chance that any fetus that makes it past 12 weeks could be found to have the unbalanced combination of genes meaning that it would either be stillborn or have a very short and low quality life expectancy.

After we heard those odds, I told Eric that I needed to stop trying for a couple of months while I dealt with my feelings. Which is when I happened to miss my period. Well, that's happened before... so nothing to get my hopes up about. Except that a couple of weeks went by and I started to feel more pregnant by the day. Finally, on Monday we went for the ultrasound. And we saw this:

And got a heartbeat of 154 bpm. Guesstimate is I will be 9 weeks tomorrow with a due date of November 30.

PLEASE keep your fingers crossed, send us some prayers, we'll take anything you can throw at us. We will have to do CVS or amnio to check the genetics of this little one (meeting with a perinatologist in 2 weeks to get their opinion and schedule the procedure). There is always that scary 10% chance of the genes not being correct, in which case we would have to do a termination. So please keep us in your thoughts. I will probably be hanging around a bit more often from now on, although I haven't even peeked at the DDC yet.

A baby with a heartbeat!!! OMG I am THRILLED for you Kyle!! I really really really hope this bean is just fine. 90% odds that the baby is genetically normal sounds great to me! I am so happy for you I could cry! And soon you will be out of the dreaded first trimester. I am sending TONS and TONS of sticky healthy baby dust your way!

I had a dream about you not to long ago that you were in a sun dress looking very pregnant, so be sure to wear some sun dresses this summer! Oh I bet you and Eric were shocked to get this BFP. How are you feeling? I am glad you are back, I missed you.

Congratulations Kyle! I have been hoping and praying for this to happen for you. A heartbeat and already making it to 9 weeks is a really really good sign! I'm due just a couple weeks before you. Not trying to pressure you at all, but the Nov ddc is a really great group. When (and if) you ever feel ready, I hope you will come over.
