Random question. I am looking for a new set of flatware. The set I originally bought after we were married was $15 and the 'coating' is chipping off. I have no idea what good flatware is. I'm looking for something nice that will be appropriate for everyday use but look great with formal dining as well. And a set that wont get rust spots.

What do you have? Any suggestions for picking something?

here is the set we registered for... we haven't used them yet but stainless steel & dishwasher safe sound good to me! I'm so lame... I really did put the spoon in my mouth in the store to make sure it was a good fit. I wonder how many other people did that... *ew*

Bed Bath & Beyond

See what I mean though? The spoons look like they're shaped in a way that might do the Wendy's spoon thing where it hurts your mouth. (Do Wendy's spoons (chili/frosty's) do that to anyone else?) Anyway, I'm glad I stuck it in my mouth at the store. haha

OOOh...I love both your sets! I cant believe you put the spoon in your mouth shannon! I am sure you are the only person that did that and no one else had thought about it ( just like trying on bikini bottoms...creeps me out).

We have a set that looks JUST like that. I can't remember where I bought it because it's are back up set. It's lasted for several years.

The current set we use was bought from JC Penney's. I think I paid around $40-50 for it. It's SS and we are happy with the set.

I was very picky when picking out a set, because I hate when silverware makes indents on my fingers while using it. So we got a pattern similar to these:

We got them off our registry, but they were about $100 retail for the set.

I tried to find our flatware, including searching our ClubWedd Target registry, but couldn't find a "stock photo". I think Mike got them from the Oneida outlet, because I can't find them at Target. Anyhow, here are some pics.

I liked the edges on them because I think they go well with our dish set. We aren't entertainers but I think they look nice. We also have a set of flatware from his Grandmother that I don't know when we will use, since they are soooo fancy.

They actually don't make mine anymore. It's Oneida stainless steel flatware. The style is Tribeca. It was around $130 for 12 place settings.

Here's what they look like:
