While at the hospital did you feel like you got to rest?
At first I thought that it was great and I would be able to rest better than at home. That changed fast. There was always someone coming in my room. Nurses, doctors, etc. After a couple days I had it. I was ready to go home and not be bothered every time I was about to try to nap. I was wondering if everyone felt the same?

Not really, but that was because of our FAMILY, not the staff There were always people there. I actually appreciated the hospital staff because they knew when to let us sleep and rest. This may sound horrible, but they took Reid off to do the heel prick or something, said it would take 20 mins, but as soon as they left the room, both DH and I fell asleep. I woke up about 2 hours later and Reid wasn't in the room. DH said that a nurse peeked her head in right after we feel asleep and asked if they should keep him in the nursery for a few mins. I would have said no, but DH nodded yes. It was a good thing, because I really did need a little bit of rest.

I think I got a lot of rest while there, but it wasn't as good as at home. My nurses and doctor were very aware of making sure I got rest time.

They were pretty good here that night and the 2nd day. My first nurse is my FSIL's mom so she was in and out alot But the nurses incurraged(sP) me to rest as much as possible with the c-section
Way different then with Seamus, it was bad with him, I hated the PP nurses and everything with him.

Nope, I did not get much rest. After he was born at 1:22 a.m. they had the blood pressure machine go off every 15 minutes for 4 hours so I was up till 5:30 because of that, cause who can sleep with that going off constantly? And then it was daytime and there was staff coming in ALL THE TIME. I swear maybe 20 people or more coming in. We were across from the nurses station so that made matters worse I could hear them talking/laughing and Dh thinks they just came over to check on us when they got bored, who knows. The second night I had him in the nursery part of the night so I could get some rest but then they would bring him back for feedings. One time he wouldn't really nurse but when I called them to take him back to nursery he started rooting and the nurse said he looked like he still wanting to eat. I tried again and he still wouldn't but then I felt like a bad mom because the nurse made me feel like I was trying to send him back hungry.

Ugh! Shannon that sounds so much like what I delt with! I had things on my legs the first night that would squeeze them for circulation since I had a c/s and it drove me nuts. I finally asked the nurse to take them off because I could not sleep. I too had soo much staff coming in and out. It seemed like every time I was starting to drift off and ready to try to nap someone else came in. I ended up sending Oliver to the nursery at night because I needed to rest so badly after no sleep for over 38 hours. One of the nights I tried forever to nurse him and finally sent him back because I thought he wasn't wanting to nurse. The nurse told me he looked like he was still hungry and made me feel just awful. He was rooting around too. They ended up bringing him back a hour later and I fed him. I have some mommy guilt about sending him to the nursery because it was something I did not want to do what so ever. But I felt I had to so that I could rest. I could not get up to get him when he fussed. I always had to call a nurse because I wasn't strong enough to pick him up after my c/s. Every time he needed changed, nurses, or I wanted to hold him I had to call a nurse. Except when my mom or DH was with me.

Well, my first 2 days I hardly got any rest.. I did the first 12 hours of my induction with only a few shots of pain meds, plus they had to check my blood sugar every 2 hours.. Then once I got my epidural, I spent the next 20 hours of my induction hardly resting, even with an epidural.. Since I had the epidural, they had to check my blood sugar every hour.. It got to the point where I told the nurses just to pick a finger.. I didn't care which one they poked, they already got each finger at least 3 times.. lol After I had my daughter, I kinda rested.. I had lots of co-workers come up to visit.. But the nurses didn't really bother me..
I hope this labor goes by faster.. I don't think I can do another 32 hours of labor.. lol

I got pretty good rest considering I was only there a night. He was born at 2pm and we left around 10ish the next day. The ladies came in a couple times at night but they didn't turn on any lights and wore a little flashlight and just did quick vitals, and only did our vitals if we were awake. She said "If you see a little light come in and hover around your baby it's not aliens!! it's just us" hehe. They were so amazing there!!
But I had to keep a close ear and eye on him cause both my boys came so fast and they still had lots of mucous in their lungs that would come up and make them choke :S Very scary!

I got up to the ward at 11pm after having Kirsty at 7:27pm. There were 3 other mums & babies in the ward... all 3 babies cried all night. So no, I didn't get any rest!

I felt exactly the same. I got no rest and NO ONE listened to me when I told them something about Conner. This one nurse actually tried to take him and force feed him basically because "he wasn't eating enough, you just have to make him". I told her to put my baby down or I was going to scream. After that I didn't dare sleep unless my mom or Nic was there because I didn't want someone coming in and taking him. I frickin HATED the hospital.

I don't remember being that tired....even at home DH took two weeks off and our family didn't come for a few weeks after DS was born so it was just the three of us - not even alot of friends came by till later on and every time I tried to nap I just didn't feel tired. At the hospital I slept pretty much the whole first night because he was in the nursery alot with the observation they had to do on him and because I requested he stay there and not in my room that first night. The second day and second night I had him but again I remember feeling plenty rested. I had a good experience or I just didn't get very worked up over it and don't remember it being frustrating! I've heard really great things about the hospital here - its a brand new womens/childrens facility and people say its like a 5 star hotel...so I'm really excited!

I didn't get to rest much but I didn't feel like I needed to rest much. I mean my body needed the rest because of the section but my mind was very alert. I was on a public ward since I was transferred in emergency and couldn't get a private one. I rarely slept during the day but I used to be "out" at nights. Amara was practically sleeping from 10pm til 5am then (sometimes a wee bit longer) but the nurses said that since she was feeding well and of a good weight that I didn't need to wake her.

Man....I will never forget the sheer exhaustion that I experienced once we were home. I felt like I needed to sleep for 2 days straight to recover. A week after I had Reid, my dad and step-mom came to visit. I let them watch Reid and I slept until like 3pm that afternoon, only waking up when my step-mom would bring Reid in to nurse. I felt sooo bad, but I have never felt so crippled by exhaustion. I think it was a mix of physical "trauma" of birth, being up for over 24 hours straight they day I had him, and the baby blues.

I hated being at the hospital! The nurses were all really nice but they kept waking me up when I was trying to sleep and it was just really annoying. Plus for some reason across the street from the hospital there was (what sounded like) a whole kennel of barking dogs! They were barking all night and all morning, I was beyond pissed.
We would have only spent one day except he was born at like 10 PM, so we spent that night and the next night, and then they asked me if I wanted to go home or stay another night and I was like oh we're leaving for sure! I was able to rest so much better at home, I took a really long nap after we got back. We didn't have any help though until like 4 days later when DF's family came.
With Aden I don't even remember really, I was so sick that I wasn't even able to go to the recovery room until over 24 hours after she was born. They were still monitoring my blood pressure and urine output and stuff like that. I think we were there for 3 days after she was born (and several days before) and I don't even remember if I was woken up a lot or not!

Same with Matthew! I guess I didn't realize that it was because he came so quickly. Dh spent most of the first night checking on his breathing. That was part of the reason we had him in the nursery the 2nd night, so the nurses could monitor that while we rested.

Uh, no. I barely slept at all in the hospital. There were nurses coming in all the time to check on me and it was so loud, too...people talking out in the hallway all through the night. I was soooo tired.

I got no rest at the hospital after I had Liam. I went into labor in the middle of the night and he was born that morning so I was going on only a few hours sleep. I also hemorrhaged some after he was born so I lost more blood than normal. I was tired but just couldn't sleep. I guess all the adrenaline and excitement from having him had me all hyped. When I did want to go to sleep there was visitors or staff checking on me. I had a nasty nurse my first night there--she yelled at me for having Liam in bed with me and when she went to check my bp she said it was pretty high so the machine must be broken and would be right back with another. I waited and waited but she never came back. I had a second degree tear with Liam so I was pretty sore which made it hard to sleep. I was so ready to leave the hospital the next morning but they said I had to stay another day. The second night I had a different nurse and she was great. Liam stayed with us the whole time (except for tests and his circ) and he slept pretty well. We were across from the nurses station too so I could hear them talking all the time. And the second night was new years eve so even though they tried to be quiet they didn't do a great job.
I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with any of that when I had Loch. I only had to stay 12 hours afte he was born (because I was gbs+) but I was ready to leave several hours before that. I only had maybe 2 hours sleep before I went into labor with him and hemorrhaged pretty bad so I lost a lot of blood but again I was too hyped to sleep. We all slept great that night though, in our own bed!
I'm so looking forward to getting my homebirth next time. It'll be so nice not to have to go anywhere and I can just stay relaxed in my own bed!

The first night I slept well enough. But that's probably because I only had 2 hrs of sleep the night before, followed by 19 hours of labor . It was almost midnight by the time I got to my room and was settled. But I did find it annoying with so many nurses coming in and out. I must say I was relieved when they would take Henry to the nursery every few hours for his "check ups." I slept better knowing he was safe with them.
