This

My landlord grew up about 5 or so miles away from a nuclear power plant. When she was younger, her school gave each child a little cup of fluoride as it was schools policy (this was back in the 60's) What the school wasn't telling the parents was the school was actually giving the children samples of liquid radiation to see if/how it would affect the children. Because of this procedure, she now has "down winder's syndrome" She has almost out of control thyroid issues due to the exposure of the radiation, and has had several surgeries to correct her thyroid. This is also passed down to the females of the affected mother. Meaning both of her daughters, and her granddaughters have this condition. Had she not taken the "fluoride" she would have NEVER had this condition nor passed it down to her daughters - and granddaughters!!

Not only am I truly againced fluoride, I am againced school's giving my children ANYTHING. Shots/"fluoride"/whatever. Please do your reasearch, if they inform you that they are supplementing your child with ANYTHING - fight it! You never know what they are giving your children.

This was not ment to scare mothers, please dont freak out lol.

~Beth

*This is not the reason I am againced fluoride - it is a poison that should NOT be giving to ANYONE. Sure they say its safe in small amounts - it is still a POISON!

I work in the dental field and have for many years!! There is no reason that a child should not have fluoride. We put topical fluoride on kids teeth after every visit. It helps strengthen enamel, and therefor helps prevent cavities. It is good for a child to ingest a little fluoride as well, it helps the forming teeth be stronger. I see kids everyday who need fluoride and they would be in better shape if it was given to them, so I think with the parents permission a little Fluoride is a good idea. Many towns actually have fluoride in the water, and if that is the case and your child drinks tap water there is no need to give them any!! I do agree that research should be done, but many schools here do it and I think it is a great idea.

fluoride wasn't the reason for this post - its to protect your child of the school's giving your child anything with/without your permission.

I was just saying if it is truly fluoride they are giving your child, then I think it is a good idea. I think what happened to your landlord is unfortunate, but that was back in the 60's. I know tons of schools around here that do it, because kids need it. I think there are alot of parents out there who don't really care about there childrens health whether it is medical or dental related, and if schools can give things like Fluoride and vaccinations(with parents permission) to kids who otherwise wouldn't get those things, I think it is a great idea!!

I know I would never give my child fluoride or any member in my family. To me it is poison. It's made from the atomic bomb from what I have read. I don't care if it's "good" for our teeth. I'm not giving extra poison to my child because some doctor said it's good. It's bad enough it's in our public drinking water.

I think all school should ask permission to give children any supplements/medications! I didn't realize they COULD even do that! Thanks for letting me know this.

I didn't know schools could do that! Where I work, kids can't even be given tylenol without a parent being called and giving the okay. And before they can even give the okay, they need a note from the parent saying that tylenol can be given if the parent is called first.

WOW! That's crazy! Schools should seek the permission of the parents or guardians before giving children anything like that to use.
