How did you celebrate? I'm trying to get together some little, nice, and almost free gifts for Mike. I'm going to take my written vows, type them up nicely and print them on pretty paper, and frame them for our room.
I am also interested in making a movie/slideshow of pictures from our last 5 years. I am not sure what programs to use to do this, or how to go about it. I know I definitely want to add music, at least our "song" which was our 1st dance at our wedding, and our last wedding song. We chose the 1st together and he decided to surprise me with the last, which was "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney. Well, he was certainly right! I blinked, and we're a couple of dozen days from year #1/5 being complete!
Thanks for your stories and thoughts girls!

I celebrated by getting appendicitis and having surgery, lol. We don't have good luck with anniversaries. Our first he was gone and I ended up in the hospital, our second he left on deployment, our third he will be gone as well.

Matt and I went to Niagra Falls Canada and stayed in a ritzy hotel overlooking the falls. We also ate the top layer of our wedding cake that we'd been saving in our freezer. It actually wasn't half bad.

Lurking from the main board...He was deployed as you know so we didn't do anything special. I was working on the anniversary of our big wedding although that one isn't as important to me. Last year, I don't remember what we did, I think we went out to dinner for Valentine's Day and our anniversary. This year, he got a card and that was about it. We're working on being together for every other year.

We went on vacation to Orlando (Disney, Sea World, etc). On our anniversary night, we went to see the Arabian Knights Show and a couple next to us told the waitresses and they brought us a candle on our desert.

LOL Alice.. We did all the Canadian nights in college blowing through Mike's inheritance. The falls play a huge role in our relationship so we will probably go see them.
My Aunt and Uncle live in Saratoga Springs, NY, and they have offered to host us for the weekend gladly. We could take a trip to Vermont {I've never beed} and enjoy fam we never see, and my fave cousin, but we could also do whatever we wanted. AND AND AND, now that we're married, not only can we sleep on the same LEVEL of their Catholic House, we can sleep in the same BED My sister was preggo with her oldest but not yet married and they didn't let her and her DF sleep together so it's a huge joke

We went to Canada (toronto) for a music thing. We have never gotten eachother a gift. We always spend time together doing something. Usually it's going out for dinner. I have no clue what we will do this year. It's 8 yrs on June 23rd!
I think you have some good ideas already!

Niagara-on-the-lake is really nice. We stayed there and did a spa thing, then a fancy dinner with wine tastings. I got him some cuban cigars.

I was 6 months pregnant and didn't really feel like doing much. Plus Liam was still little and money was tight. I think we went out to dinner but I don't really remember (how bad is that? LOL). I do know that instead of getting each other gifts for our anniversary (May 20th) and birthdays (June 13th and 27th) we took a little family vacation, just the three of us, to the beach for a few days. It was so nice! I can't believe we'll be celebrating 3 years in about 2 weeks!!!

Since my nana's birthday was the next day (and we thought it was going ot be her last), we decided to stay local. We got a room at a hotel about 30 minutes away, just to have a change of scenery. We went out for a nice dinner and chilled out together later. We turned off our computers and cell phones and just enjoyed each other.
I always tell Ed that one of the most romantic things he does for me is cook. So I bought him a cookbook he'd been wanting.

We were in Qatar (middle east country) and DH had to work so we didn't do anything different. When we got back to the states we had a nice dinner and I got a pair of nice sunglasses (the way we met was I won a contest at the meet and greet of a peer education thing and won sunglasses--he was the one who handed them to me ).

DH and I spent two nights in Biloxi, MS.. Its about 2 hours from our house.. We spent time going to the casinos, relaxing by the pool and beach, & we went to a nice dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.. I honestly can't remember what we got each other, it must have just been something small...
