Ok who has been to mexico? Where did you go? Did you like it?
We just found out today that troy (and his company) need to take one week of unpaid time off-mandatory. So since they don't pay for car/hotel and we have no where to live we are looking at taking a second babymoon....and since Mexico is so cheap now we are looking at heading there. (right now we are thinking cancun area). So I would love some advice ladies! (besides making sure I wash my hands so not to get H1N1 flu LOL)

My dad had a house in Yelapa so I spent my summers as a kid there, which is right outside of Puerto Vallarta. DH and I just got back from Cozumel and Calica, and I thin Calica is totally worth going back to -- Playa Del Carmen was great... super clear water and the sand was so soft. Plus there was lots of American things there like starbucks so it's kind of like being back in the states, which you haven't done a whole lot lately. haha
YAY for traveling on the cheap while everyone is in hysterics over the flu!

I've been to Cancun, Mexico City, Guanajanto, Taxco, and Puero Escondito.
Cancun: Your typical tourist beach spot, nothing special
Mexico City: Dont recommend for you and Troy, unless one of you is very fluent in Spanish. It can be hard to get around if you dont know Spanish...plus it can be dangerous. And lets face it...you two wouldnt exactly blend in, haha.
Guanajuanto: Very beautiful mountain village. Cute shops.
Taxco: Another beautiful mountain villiage full of curvy roads and good hiking. Know for gorgious silver. They have a million silver stores and gift places. Fun city.
Puerto Escondito: Unique beach city known for some of the best surfing in the world. Not a lot of tourists so it is very cheap. But you have a great beach, unique villas for lodging.....but not the 5 star resort experience.

Troy is fluent in Spanish! He lived in mexico even for a semester to learn it!
Troy is now thinking doing a baseball stadium tour and driving around and going to games...could be interesting. Is it to cold still to see Niagara falls?

If you get the right timing it is NOT too cold to visit Niagara Falls! We've been in the 60s-70s lately and now is the best time IMO because there aren't families on summer break. There are 2 very nice casinos and lots of fun things to do. Mike and I never get sick of it.
As far as Mexico, I've been to Cozumel, Cancun, and Costa Maya. Cozumel has had so much development since I was first there in Feb 2003, and I wish I could have spent more time there. Costa Maya was where I saw the Mayan Ruins but they're available all over the place!

Mexico is beautiful. I've been to Calica, Cancun, Puerta Vallarta, Mazatlan, and several areas of the baja peninsula including Cabo San Lucas, San Felipe, & San Miguel. Honestly, last time we went we swore we'd never go back. The level of poverty is just heartbreaking. If we do go back, it'll be to the Caribbean coast.

We went to Cancun in November and honestly absolutely hated it. It may just be that its not for us, though. I am SUCH a picky eater and there was literally nothing I liked. It was SOOOOO dirty, and the people trying to scam every last cent from you was REALLY annoying. I think they assume americans dont know how to convert currency, or some people really just done care, because we literally got ripped off everytime we bought something....if we would have let it go without confronting them and saying "you didnt give us the right change" we would have left that place spending $100 or so just on people not giving us correct change.

YES! We went to Tulum and it was beyond amazing. It's the most incredible place I've ever been (though I haven't traveled like you have, lol). There's also this really cool area called Xel-Ha which was really cool. Here's the tour that we took. If we ever go again though, we'll devote an entire day to each site. Definitely not too cold to see Niagara Falls. I was there in mid-March and it was still a bit chilly (but I am a Southern girl and cold is anything below 50..hehe). Now everything is back open and running so you can do all the attractions and whatnot. Normal temps are around 60.

Can they make people take unpaid holidays? That seems unfair! KUP on where you go!

Yes they can And they can do it as many times as they want also---there is no laws about it. Our Guildford, UK office can't do it because you have laws---we are actually looking at transferring to that office right now so incase this keeps happening we aren't taking the hit. They also announced that family of the employees are no longer flying business with the staff memeber and they have to fly economy on all flights (so even the 22 hrs ones!) UGH! The thing that annoys me is that the head company is making these decisions for the whole company......well Troy's division of the company is still hiring and needs people and are busy and making millions of dollars and not slowing down with the economy but we have to "take one for the team".

My on this one is Fenway Park here in Boston! There is so much to do in the area. Duck boat tours, museums, etc all within a short ride on the "T" (our subway system)
