Well crap, we don't know!
Unfortunately, once we got to the hospital the technician told us she was not allowed to tell us the sex because of liability. I'm guessing some idiot out there tried to sue and ruined it for everyone. She was surprised my doctor didn't know this, but I guess since my doctor is a family practitioner and not an OB, she probably doesn't deal with this too often. However, even if the technician would have been allowed to tell us the gender, I don't think she would've been able to. Baby was butt up and face down the entire time, and the technician never was able to get a good crotch shot. I suppose we just aren't meant to know just yet! Oh well... My next regular check up is on May 15 at 9:10 a.m. and I should find out the gender then. I just called my doctors office to verify and the nurse seemed to think I would have my gender scan then, but she's going to go ask my doctor sometime this afternoon to make sure and will call me back later. I'll keep you all posted!
Anyway, despite that little setback my sonogram was still amazing! Baby was moving around quite a bit in the beginning and gave the technician some trouble while she was trying to measure him/her. It was pretty amusing! Once she got a good shot of my placenta, she let me get up to use the bathroom. Not a moment too soon, either! I had to drink 40 fl oz of water an hour before I went in, so by the time she was pressing on my stomach I was on the verge of tears from having to pee so bad! lol. Once I got back she looked at all the different organs and bones and made sure everything was where it's supposed to be. Baby looks good and healthy, though a radiologist will look over the pictures in more detail and I'll get a report on that at my next doctors appointment... From what we could see, though, everything looks good! Of course, once I emptied my bladder the baby decided to get nice a comfy with his/her butt high up in the air and his/her face down and then proceeded to fall asleep. lol. He/she wiggled around a little bit, but basically stayed the same. Fortunately, right at the end the baby finally turned his/her head and we were able to see the face! The technician gave us four large photos, which I scanned once I got back to work (luckily I have access to a high speed, high resolution scanner). Jeremy also took several videos, most of which you can't tell what the heck is going on - but I'll post them anyway in case you're curious.
