most times i don't get much out of my right breast when pumping as compared to the left, but it has been significantly less and i noticed that it seems kind of engorged. i didn't nurse joshua at all yesterday (only pumped) because abby is really sick w/ a sinus infection so i've been letting the grandparents take care of him while i tend to abby. i am going to try a warm compress...any suggestions to what i need to do or what this is? i hope it's not mastisis (sp?)...

Is it a hard spot in one area only and not the whole breast? I have gotten them a lot lately. Nursing and pressing on that area helps the most. Oliver can make it go away fast with nursing. If I'm at work or he won't nurse I try to pump but it doesn't help as much. They are not fun!

It isn't the entire breast but it seems to be a really large area. I have also been feeling body aches and fatigue, and I just looked it up in my LLL book...it looks like I may be on my way to mastisis. Things have been really crazy around here (Brant's uncle passed away so we were super busy helping his mom and w/ the funeral & burial), my BIL and SIL were here, and now Abby is sick. I haven't been able to nurse as often as I'd like (except for Monday) or even pump as often as I'd like. I am going to see if I can get some relief today and if not I guess I'm going to have to go to the dr. tomorrow or something.

Sounds like a clogged duct. If you can get in a good nursing session or pump very well it should clear up. I hope it doesn't turn into mastisis.

i don't know if i'm too late. i have a call in to the dr.'s office b'c if i need antibiotics, i want them asap. the compress helps temporarily. i missed being able to nurse josh b'c he and grandpa had fallen asleep (& he was in grandpa's arms) so i grabbed my pump & went in my room. mid-pump i hear him getting a bottle. it's frustrating.

With the flu type symptoms, I was going to ask if it might be mastitis. Try massaging the area as you nurse, like Resi says.

I only had a Mastitis once and I thought I was dieing! It sound's like a clogged duct to me. I always had a Milk Blister when I had them. I would get them every 2 months or so. And they just seemed to go away on there own. Although I would have them 1-3 days. I would still nurse and pump and nothing would make it go away.

Sounds like a clogged duct. The warm compress should sort it out as well as massaging it while you pump or BF.

Hope it's better today.
