I need some advice.. It's about kids clothing.. I need to buy a couple pairs of jeans for Adriana, but I'm a little uncertain about what size to get.. I tend to buy nice jeans that will last along time.. I'm torn if I should get 18 months, 24 months, or 2T..

As of now, Adriana is 19 1/2 months old and still wears size 12 month pants. She's worn these jeans since October of last year. The legs still fit fine in the jeans length wise, but at the hips it's getting short.. They are more like "low" riders now.. lol I want to buy some nice jeans to last throughout winter.. Adriana is more then likely going to be shortie and she tends to wear clothes for a while.. I know there isn't that much a difference between size 18 months and 24 months.. Would you get clothes that are a little long and you can just roll up or just get what fits.. The jeans I'm looking at cost around $20 a piece.. What would you do? I'm leaning towards size 24 months and I think they may last all winter.. Or should I do 2T.. Is there a big difference between 2T and 24 months?

Thanks for your help.. It's kinda frustrating buying clothes for a child that grows super slow.. lol

I'm thinking the 24mo ones but really try them on her first and judge by the waste, if they are way to large and fall off then I'd go one size smaller. The legs can always be rolled up if they are too long (have to do this with Kierans stuff sense shes inbetween premie and newborn clothes). We buy 3T pants for Seamus and 4T shirts, the shirts are huge but inorder to get them over his large head(macrocephaly) its needed

I know you said you buy more spendy ones but Kmart has some pants that have sizable wastes, we buy those for Seamus.

What I've been told the difference between 24 and 2t is that 24mo still has room for diaper space and 2t doesn't. We didn't do to much 24mo pants though

My DS is a totally shortie too! He is still wearing 12-18 bathing suits already this summer (without the diaper now all the pants are fitting differently). He wears 18-24 month pants....and he turned 3 in April. I find there is a HUGE difference between 24 months and 2 T in pants...not necessarily in shirts. I would buy what fits. I've tried to put DS in some pants we inherited from friends that are 2T and his teachers end up changing him because he complains that they fall down and he trips and all that. I've never tried a belt and I don't think a belt on a little kid that age would be very comfortable....especially on a little one like DS who has learned to potty by himself but still goes very often cause of his tiny bladder...how frustrating for him (and his teachers) to have to deal with a belt.

Thank you ladies for your responses.. I'm going to go with what fits.. A friend gave me some 18 month old capries and I put them on Adriana yesturday and lets just say they are not capries. lol Here's a picture..

I guess the best way to buy is to get what fits.. If she out grows them in the middle of winter, it would be okay.. It gives me a reason to do some shopping. But my DH always complains when I buy clothes for Adriana.. lol oh well..

Justine - I do like buying shirts at Kmart, but I noticed the shirts tend shrink and fit small.. I do have some pants from there and I like the adjustable wastes.. The jeans I have for Adriana now also have adjustable waste also.. I purchased them at Shopko and I'm surprised on how well they held up.. They look barely used..
