For those of you that used FAM before baby, what BC method did/are you using now?

Without a reliable period, FAM is pretty much out the window right now, right? I don't want to go back on the pill, even for just a few months. But I don't know if I would trust just a condom. We do NOT want babies so close together!

Any thoughts?

I didn't use that metod but I had Merina IUD which I wont be getting again because it caused weight gain, its a hormonal b/c.(can be used for upto 5yrs, removed sooner if you want)

I'm going on the 22nd to get ParaGaurd(sp?) IUD its non hormonal one.(can be used for upto 10yrs removed sooner if you want)

I'm going to be no help, but I'll tell you what I did and what I'm going to do this time. I went back on the pill after DS at 6 weeks....I did NOT want to chance having kids anywhere close to each other and I have a very irregular cycle so it was the only option for us. This time DH is getting the snip snip job as soon as he possibly can after our little girl is born! We have three mouths to feed and we are done having babies!

I don't want to go on birth control and it took us so long to get pregnant, I think we will just do condoms or pull and pray. We do want our kids to be around 2 years apart.

We have only had sex 3 times since Oliver was born. Every time was pnp. I have not had a period yet. If anything we will use condoms. I'm never going on anything hormonal.

I am going to do FAM minus the temp checks... so cervix checks... and condoms

The mini pill can dry up your milk. I do not want anything hormonal again! And EBFing does keep AF and ovulation away, at least for 6 months or so... but most people I know don't O for 9 mons to a year.

I wouldn't rely 100% on this... I'm EBFing and got AF last week! I've only ever missed one of Kirsty's feeds since she was born, she got a bottle of pumped milk by my SIL, altho I pumped at that feed.

We are just doing PnP. We have condoms but m'eh we don't like'em and if we get pregnant it would be a wonderful thing So we aren't worried. When Dustin is closer to a year we will actually ttc.

I hate pills, condoms and love babies hahaha

After baby since DH is practically sterile we're gonna do what we always did -- Use nothing. The nurse asks me the same question each week "And what BC method will you use after the baby?" and we say "nothing" and get "the look" to which i always have to respond "He's practically sterile" and then they feel bad....

We are using Mirena. It did cause about 15lbs of initital weight gain, but I lost that and it seems to have settled down. I don't like the month long periods but at least they are super light. I cannot imagine having another baby, we are so happy with Ivy, it's our perfect little family.

I will probably stay on the IUD for good. I hate having to worry about BC and this way I have no scares. Oh and for whoever was using BFing as BC...thats how my older brother and sister are 11 months apart....

I agree BF is not 100% fool proof either, there were some ladies in our DDC that have babies close together and were BF (something like 5weeks old when she got pregnant), some ladies start ovulating right away afte child birth even while breastfeeding.

I was 100% BF Seamus and stopped pp bleeding at 4.5weeks and Af started at 6.5weeks. I had my IUD put in and was still 100% BF him and still had a couple AF's with the IUD and BF.

My mom also 100% BF me for 6months and had her AF return when I was 2months old.

I had the Mirena IUD and had it in for about 2 years. It completly took away my period, and I dont think I even ovulated...its taking a bit to get the rusty baby making gear up and running again...

Thats the one I had too, from September 2006 till May 2008 and af never returned for me after the inital one when it came out, it was over 90 days since af when we found out I was 5weeks along with Kieran
