When did you start taking baths?

My ob said it was fine at my 9day PP check but I'm still scared to. At my 4week PP check on Friday I told him about the little bit in the side thats still bleeding and he looked at it and said that its where the knot from the stitches was tied and it fell off before the incision was all the way healed. And also because of the "bubble" that popped out, he just said to keep an eye on it since it wasn't as small as he wanted it to be.

Would I be fine to take a bath? I forgot to re-ask him at the 4week visit

if your scared put one of thoes huge bandaid patches over it. I would think with the warm water it would help it close/heal. Id say your good to go!

i'm not surgical, so i'm no expert...
But we tell our pacemaker patients not to take a bath or go in a pool until the wound has healed over. The concern is that the wound edges would get pruny (like your fingers do when soaked in a tub) and would not stick together as nicely. Also any germs washed off your body and floating in the water could soak into the wound. A soak in the tub could prevent that little piece from healing up, or make it take longer. I would wait, or give you doc a call to make sure. I know it must be frustrating. I know a bath would be all I would want during those first few tired weeks.

I can't remember. I know that I took a bath before I was suppose to because when I went to the doctor becaues it looked infected they told me I should not have bathed. I think I was suppose to wait between 4-6 weeks. It's hard to remember.

I showered solely until after my 6 week check-up even though I had some kind of sealant over it.

Plain water and a quick bath and you would be fine for some comfort (don't get pruned and NO soaps or anything in the water). You don't want anything in it till its healed over. I would just stick with showers still (I would also keep it covered during showers so not to get soap and stuff in it.)
