I need some opinions please on this car seat....
Amazon.com: The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat, Cappuccino: Baby

I like Cappuccino and chocolate! LOL Anyone got one of these? Its seems like it will cover us from birth to 65lbs, and the safety stuff on it sounds good....but since I really don't know what to look for otherwise I thought I would get your opinions on it!

No experience with it but I say get it and cross one thing off your list. I mean honestly, a car seat is a car seat, you know? I like the color, and it seems like it would suit your lifestyle

You might have already said this in your other carseat thread so I apologize if this is a repeat question! Are you planning on having an infant carseat? The only reason I ask is because it is SO NICE to not have to wake a sleeping infant when you need to get out of the car. Just something to think about.

Reading the reviews, quite a few people say that it's not the best seat for rear facing, which you will be in for at least a year. For that price, I would personally go with the Britax Marathon, which you can find for $199-$229.

I do like the colors though!

Baby's stuff is going to have to fit in its one big bag (under 50lbs) just like ours--it does make it more interesting to baby shop LOL.

We are hoping to just get one because we could end on a long assignment and baby grow out of one into another and its VERY hard to find these overseas! I do see the waking a baby as an issue that will probably suck---I'm HOPEING that they just get used to it *crossing all crossables!* LOL

Ok now I must be looking in the wrong area because the reviews I was reading said it was one of the best for that because it could go longer?...UGH Where is a good place to look up reviews?

I am but I don't think the right places. I do know it has the highest safety rating that "they" give!

Ah, I gotcha. Hopefully baby will get used to it then!

As for the carseat, girl, I am ALL about the Britax. They are actually made in Charlotte, NC (where I'm from) and I used to handle some of their accounts when I was a bank manager. I've been to their offices for different bank business here and there and I can tell you that they are truly a company that CARES. So much goes into the planning, design, and creation of the carseats and the top concern is always safety. They are the "Volvo" of carseats and well, you know how I am about my Volvos!!

Britax----the issue I possible see for their seats is that its so long when rear facing. I am nervous our little overseas cars will not fit them. The True Fit has that removable top part to prevent this problem up to 23lbs child in it. Does anyone have a little car that has the Britax? I do like how the Britax is 5lbs lighter though! (every lb counts with us!)

Why don't you get both the infant seat and convertible now....hit MIL up for both (HE HE HE) The infant seat is really worth it....those convertibles just seem sooooo big for a newborn. But if you're convinced -----I'm also a Britax girl so I am going to say go with the Britax. DH just installed Harrison's new Britax Frontier in our Jeep Cherokee....and it fits perfect. I will get a picture of him in it and post it!

Like I said before I'm going to reuse our infant car seat that is an Evenflo (part of a travel system) - but as soon as she hits a year we're going to put her forward facing in a Britax convertible....not sure which one yet but I'll shop around.

I do like the seat - but I'm a Britax fan!

Elite carseats has comparison charts etc. And there is a website called CarSeatData.org - user ratings of carseats fitting into cars where you can look up different carseat models with different cars and see what people have to say about it.

Good luck!

^^^ we thought about getting both---but then if we get sent on an assignment we can't take both with us and many times we leave thinking we are gone for a month and it turns into 6 months--so they would out grow it while out.
We went to BRU tonight and checked out the seats---WOW thats over whelming! AND BIG WOW there is a big difference in wt!!!! It bumped out the True fit--its like 25lbs. Now we are looking at Graco ComfortSport and the Britax Roundabout.

Both of those look great! They both have great ratings!

I know what you mean about it being over whelming. I just had a hard time picking out a high chair... and I only had 5 to chose from lol!!!!

Angela - I have read really great things about that seat, actually. Have you been to car-seat.org? They are AMAZING there and if you do a search in their forums about that seat, you will get tons of reviews. Many of the regular people who post there are carseat technicians.

Also, having an infant seat doesn't necessarily guarantee that the baby won't wake once you're done in the car...my little man broke that idea right out of the water! He's awake the second the car stops, infant seat or not. It's incredibly frustrating!
I have heard really great things about Recaro seats, too. We got the Signo for Ben's next seat...but that's huge, too.
