My friend brought her little guy over last night for a sleep over while she went out. He had a fever, and I don't think she should have left him(but that's a different story), and a really bad cold. he was really congested, coughing like crazy, hot, sweaty, very red cheeks and all he wanted to do was cuddle. I had to go to the store and buy him some infant Motrin and once I gave that to him he started to feel better!! So, she didn't bring me the pack and play because it is at his dads so he had to sleep in my bed. Well we couldn't sleep in my bed because I was afraid he would roll off, so we slept in the spare room. It was so hard for him to fall asleep because he couldn't breath. So finally at 10:30 he fell asleep. He woke up at 1:30 and was crying so loud it broke my heart, it was to soon to give him more Motrin, so I changed his diaper and gave him a bottle and that didn't work. I held him in the dark and rocked him to sleep. He woke up again and 4:30 and just wanted to be held. I held him and rocked him for about half an hour and he fell back asleep again. His mom came on got him at 6:00 and he was still sleeping.
Maybe it was just because he was sick, but I had the hardest time sleeping with him. He was all over the place, sideways, head at the other end of the bed, pretty much upside down. I didn't sleep a wink. I don't know how all you co sleeping mommas do it. I guess it would be different with my own baby!!

Morg, I LOVE how you are so in tune to what he needs!!! You will make a great mom As for co-sleeping both of mine kick me out of bed and I end up on the couch. When their infants I love it, but crawling age they go to their own bed

Poor little baby boy. I would think it is different with yout own baby. He was sick and sleeping in a different place which throws off his routine. That all has a lot to do with it. I will say some nights are rough co-sleeping but I think they would be worse for me if he was in his crib.

I agree, I wouldn't take my baby to a friend's house sick at all!!!! First I would feel bad for you having to take care of her and 2nd who know's if you could get sick too. And she didn't even give you tylenol or anything??!! BUT you are going to make a GREAT mommy!!! When I used to Co-sleep with Cambria she would rub herself into me ALL night and want to nurse. As soon as I took her out of our bed she didn't want to eat that much anymore. So I never really got to the baby all over the bed stage. But I know we will again once she gets older and wants to crawl into our bed at night, haha..

First thats crap she left you with a sick kid, second its crap she left you with a sick kid and NO meds! I have co-slept with a few friends kids----I think the sick factor was probably more the issue, but I'm guessing it will also be different with your own. And for being a great sub-mom.

You did a great job! That's not good that she left him with you while he was sick.

That's so sad that she left her sick baby with you. I could never do that! I think you did an awesome job taking care of him though! I think it was most likely the fact that he didn't feel good that made co sleeping difficult. Poor little guy! It is different with your own though. Lochy was always all over the place but I was never afraid of him falling off because he slept in between me and Ian or between me and the wall (I put something in the crack between the bed and wall so he didn't roll over and get stuck).
It's been a couple weeks though since we've coslept because my little guy finally decided to sleep through the night consistently!!!

Poor little guy. Maybe it's just me, but Elsa is 5, and I wouldn't even leave her at a friend's house with a cold, and being congested! But you did soo well with him! I think part of his restlessness was due to being sick. Elsa can never get settled and sleep well when she's sick, especially when she was a baby.
