Oliver had a playdate on Saturday with two other babies. We have all gotten together a few times but this was the first time we had them play together. It was cute. Oliver saw a two dogs for the first time and he kept checking them out. He got licked on the face a couple times too.

I wish I could find some moms that I have a little more in common with. I have met 3 different moms and my way of parenting is soooo much different. I don't feel like I connected to anyone yet. None of them BF and I'm sure they think I'm nuts for cloth diapering. I wouldn't dear tell them I co-sleep either. I feel like I can't open up around them. It's still nice to get together and let the kids play. It just would be nice to have some mommy friends in person like I have on here.

The other two baby's are Jack (two days younger than Oliver) and Alexis (7 months old).

Aww cute pictures! I know what you mean about IRL mommy friends... I literally have none. I'm only 21 years old (22 in July LoL) and most of my friends have babies but they did it because they thought it was cute and now they go out and party ALL the time and leave their kids/babies with the grandparents. It infuriates me and I can't connect with them at all. I'm far different then most girls my age. I wanted to settle down because I found an amazing man so I got married and had a family because I wanted it, not because it was cute. Thank goodness for JM

First, you can tell Oliver from the others because he's the cutest!!

Second, I have ZERO mommy friends because they do different parenting than me and they come down on me for "doing it wrong" as they say. That's why I love it here, even if we don't all parent the same way, there is less judgement!!!

There are even family members I won't mention attachment parenting and co-sleeping to.

Cute pictures, I'm glad the babies have fun!
I'm hoping to find some mommy friends as well. I don't know how big your area is, but I actually have found a yahoo group here of mommies in the area who are Attachment Parenting. They all get together for playdates and wear their babies. I plan to check that out sometime.

Yeah.. I feel like if I tell them that I co-sleep, plan to BF until he weens on his own, cloth diaper, make my own organic baby food, no cio they will think I stupid and uninformed or something. I don't want to get into my reasons way because I feel like most are not open and just think there way is THE way.

Cute pics! I agree, Oliver is the cutest!!

I'm sad for you about finding like-minded mommies! I'm afraid I'll be judged too, and I've planned on cloth diapering and making my own baby food, as well as bf'ing for years now! What about an ad on Craig's list? Some people on the gardening forum "adopted" a couple pf grandparents this way so they could learn how to can vegetables! They had a pressure canning party!

There is a site called Indymoms that is local. I have seen some AP parents on there. I guess I could go on there and try to post another ad looking for AP parents. It's hard with working FT. Most are SAHM and don't get together on weekends.

They all look so cute together! It sucks you didn't connect with the other moms. I don't really connect with any of the ladies around here, they all drink or their kids are way older. Too bad all of us don't live closer!

I'm really hoping I can find some moms with babies around the same age as mine around here! Even if they don't share my parenting choices... I'll be in the same boat, for the most part, as you are with the CD'ing, making my own baby food, etc. and I've already learned just to keep my mouth shut because most other parents seem to think you're judging them or something. I'm totally not, but I've been snapped at by a woman because she thought I was implying that she was irresponsible for using disposable diapers. I have NO idea where she got that from, but I guess just because I plan on CDing, she assumed that I thought every other way was wrong. Whatever.

Ideally, though, it'd be great to find some moms that do things similar to how I plan on doing them. But, if you saw where I live you'd see that that just isn't likely. You're lucky if people even recyle around here! I have a nickname in my office because I grab cans out of the trash can and put them in the recyle bin in the basement... Everyone thinks I'm crazy. Luckily they still love me though. hahaha.

Resi, Oliver is INSANELY good looking. Like, baby model style! He is so adorable! It looks like he had fun with his little friends

I'm sorry that you can't connect with the other moms. I'm pretty lucky because the other girls I know who have kids are pretty similar to me. We all do things differently, but no one acts weird if we do something like BF, co-sleep, cloth diaper, or attempt a natural birth. If you lived closer, we would totally hang out!

Thanks. Sometimes I can't believe that we made such a good looking baby because we both DON"T see ourselves as "good looking". hehe..

I wish that at least ONE of you wttc grads lived near me. It would be wonderful!

Oliver is ridiculously gorgeous! I love that picture in your siggy of him--he just melts my heart. Even dh commented on how cute he is!

I have zero Mommy friends IRL. And the area I'm in is not AP friendly. I remember when Loch was a month old we went to the outlet shops near here and you should have seen the looks/comments I got from people for wearing him in a sling. Only one lady was wearing her baby too and she stopped to ask me where I got my sling. And that place was huge--over 100 stores! As it is now, I get too many comments about Lochy still nursing (like its anyones business what I do with my boobs) and you better believe I heard an ear full about making my own baby food! And co-sleeping, forget about it! It would be nice to have someone to connect with but we do what we can. I'm just glad I have you ladies here!

awww olivers so sweet , his buddies are cute too!
I hope you can connect with some indy moms who share a similar parenting style or at least are not judgemental or defensive about parenting styles. I admit, i do worry about how my parenting style will be recieved by others too since i plan on going along the same lines as you resi. but you are such a great mom resi, who cares what those other moms think.
