Facing my biggest phobia in an hour-- Opinions please

THE DENTIST. I brush my teeth/floss excessively to avoid them, but I haven't had an exam since I lost dental under my father's insurance at 19, so I'm going.

Again, the braces issue will be brought up. I have said no many times and my parent's always said, "You're going to want them when you're older". At 20, my IL's offered to pay for them and I still said no. Now, my insurance will cover them and I'm leaning towards yes.

How many of you had braces? Did they hurt as bad as myths?? Tell me your stories please, I won't read til I get home!


And, do you know any adults with braces? In HS, one of the mis-guidance counselors had clear braces and us kids always noticed, but looking back it wasn't as bad.
