This is a non-traditional craze that is sweeping the country. Brides spend hideous amounts of money for that one-time perfect dress and after the wedding they "trash the dress". Trashing consists of going swimming in the ocean, riding in a roller coaster at 6 flags, maybe even going as extreme as a paintball game with you in the dress as a target? You spend money on flowers and a cake thats a one time deal that wont last - why not end with the dress?
Yay/Nay?

I would totally do it!!! I didnt even think about this, and didnt realize it was a huge craze until the marriage group that I became a fan of on facebook created an article about this!! What a fun idea!!

I'm doing mine Thursday! (a week from tomorrow)
I don't plan on getting super crazy with it though... I'm not going to ruin the dress, but I will be going all over the city and through woods, etc. where it will get roughed up. Since DH is a wedding photographer, it's free... and we have to re-stage our formals for next Thursday anyway since we didn't get them done the day of and I figured if I was gonna be all done up I might as well.

When we were thinking about doing a destination wedding, I told DF that I wanted to get married on the edge of a cliff over the ocean in the caribbean and after we say our vows jump off the cliff together. He wouldn't do it though! I thought it would be a neat way to "take the plunge".

Krista - I hope you plan on wearing bungee cords or something.... !
I wouldn't do it only because my dress for my real wedding was jeans and a knit cotton top......I wore this dress below at my vow renewal ceremony and I could probably wear it again for something....it wasn't expensive either....and I would have never spent gobs of money on a formal wedding dress in the first place...just not my style!

I think the pictures look GORGEOUS!! And I'm sure a dry cleaner can get the mud/sand/water out of the dress. But the pictures are amazing.
I would have done it with mine...but the pictures wouldn't have looked as awesome since my dress was red.

Nope I just couldn't do that to my dress.. I spent too much money on it!! I also hope to one day wear it when we renew our wedding vows in 10 or 20 years (Yeah I can hope that I'll still be able to fit into it )

I didn't plan on trashing my dress but after our reception (at a downtown museum) we walked a few blocks (in the rain) and went dancing and drinking to a bunch of bars. The bottom 2 inches of my dress was black! Oh well, it was so much fun. I was going to wear that thing as long as possible.
The rest of it looks nice still and my mom said she would make a christening gown out of it eventually.

I guess that sounded a little odd since I didn't say where we'd be jumping. I meant jump into the ocean... like cliff diving! DF refused though, with his "what if there are rocks" and "what if it's not deep enough".
I really like your dress! I like how you could wear it again. You could even go so far as to dye it another color and no one would even come close to guessing it was your wedding dress.

I love my dress too much. I hope my daughter will use some portion of it for her gown, or maybe just dress up. But I couldnt just ruin it. I'd be more willing to sell it rather than distroy it.

I would totally do it! I've seen some awesome 'trash the wedding dress' pic's and they are something a little different to the normal 'formal' pictures.

I think it could be really fun but I'd probably wouldn't do it now that it's been a few years.

I have never heard of this and am horrified! But I guess I'm a traditionalist that still sees the dress as meaning something.
