I forgot to buckle Oliver in his carseat after grocery shopping today. I sat him in his seat and then loaded up the car. I was going to buckle him in after getting everything out of the cart. I was about a 1/2 mile down the road when I looked in my mirror and saw him playing with the bottom buckle. I pulled right over and buckled him in. I felt like a bad mom. This happened one other time when Damon was driving and I was in the back seat with Oliver. Luckily I got saw right away. Has anyone else done this?
We were driving across a long strip mall parking lot from the store to the restaurant. DH and I had forgotten to buckle Henry up after we got his picture taken. I felt HORRIBLE.
Let's just be thankful everything went okay and we learn from our mistakes,
I did it once when I was looking after my lil cousin, many years ago. Because of that I make sure I buckle Kirsty in and then buckle the car seat in before I do anything else.
I've done it more than once. Sometimes it just happens when you're in a rush, but I am always thankful when I do something like that and nothing bad happens. It does make you think about it more after doing that.
I haven't done that specifically, but I've done other stuff that made me feel like a bad mom Like when I was taking pics of Reid, we posed him on his rocking horse and he fell off That was DH's fault though, mostly. lol
I have never made that mistake, but I have made others. I dropped Landen once... ok twice he wasn't hurt and it was not a far drop but I felt horrible.
But don't be too hard on yourself we all make mistakes!!!

I posted this before in a car seat post but I'll admit it again!!! I hadn't realized one day that some friends had unbuckeled the base of the infant seat when I took them to lunch at work on day (trying to find or figure out the middle seat buckle).....and the next time I put Harrison's carseat into the base I didn't check that the base was secured in with the seatbelt. Well I turned a corner and the whole dang gone thing (seat and base) went flying to the other side of the car (flipped over) with my son in it. I pulled over right away and there he was happily strapped in his infant seat upside down under the cocoon of the infant seat.....he didn't fuss or anything but the I was shocked the the centripicle force of the turn....and mordified that I hadn't checked the buckles.....that was the last time that happened!
You're not a bad mom - we all make mistakes. I had to take my son to the ER like three times in two months around the time he was beginning to walk....talk about feeling like a bad mom.....

Oh yes!!! I remember It was the 4th of July. I buckled the top one that click's together and didn't put the one inbetween her leg's. I was riding in the back with her and realized after about a 15 min car ride, Opp's!!!
