Can you tell me about Seamus's GERD reflux? When did it show up, what were his symptoms, what did you treat with and how long till he felt better? At what age did you stop giving him meds?
I think I am calling the pedi tomorrow to get an appointment. I don't know that cutting out dairy is doing anything, he is still spitting up and crying afterwards about half the time like he's in pain. He's also got a lot of gas and green poops.

TIA!

He started almost right away. We went to the doctors a few times and they blew it off saying it was normal spit-up without listening to us. He would "throw up" 6"+ projectile. I think it was around 2months that they started him on Axid(sp?) it was a liquid anti-acid it didn't help, they then switched him to Prevacid tablets, I had to break one in half(1/2 each dosage) and mix it into some water and then suck up the little pebbles/residue at the bottom of the cup and give him that. We did it for a few months, it helped but he still had occasions that he'd throw up. I stopped around 8-9mo but it wasn't' gone and we ended up in the hospital, we thought he was having seizures but according to the doctor(his pedi) it was some sort of acid reflux induced type of seizure so he was back on the meds till he turned 1 and we slowly took him back off and hes been good the last 2yrs.

I was told by lactation with Seamus that because of my over production and fast let down that when I nursed him I needed to sit back a little and not forward too much and it helped him not get as much at once so that he didn't have an issue with it coming back up too fast. He was also a cryer, he was in pain from eating and throwing up along with his Torticollis.

This was the result of one of his projectile vomits I was sitting holding him looking at him and it went every where

Thanks Justine.
I think I am going to take him to the pedi soon. He only projectile spits every once in awhile, but he's spitting up after a lot of feedings and like I said, crys afterwards like it bothers him.
I'm wondering if his green poops are due to oversupply. He doesn't seem to gag anymore while I nurse him (he did at first), but I'm suspicious b/c of the green poops, gas and fussiness.
It's so hard to know what symptom is caused by what. I think I may go in for a lactation consulation and some LLL meetings.

Poor Seamus...I bet that reflux had him in a lot of pain as well. Glad he is better now.
