try to research your genealogy? My aunt has been doing it for my moms side of the family for about 3 years. I've been dabbling in it here and there. I think it is so interesting to find out where I came from! My great great grandfather (from my maternal grandfathers side) came here from Poland (Russia then) in 1908 and my great (x like 10 LOL) grandfather (from my maternal grandmothers side) was Christopher Jones, captain of the Mayflower!
Poland/Russia was so confusing during that time so it's hard to find accurate info.. Thanks for your help Kati!
Anyone else want to share what you've found if youve researched??

I went to Ellis Island in NY and found my first Rabenberg's signature when he came over! But I have other people in the family who like to do this stuff so I have tons of info----I just never really checked it out. We don't have anything to exciting---just plain people doing normal stuff.

My grandfather did all the research for my dad's side of the family. (100% German) Basically, My now maiden last name back in the olden days (1800's) was a Jewish town in West Prussia where everyone there was related. Being that were Jewish that obviously means during the holocaust most of my family went into concentration camps and died -- We found out most were at Auschwitz and Bergen-Belson. My grandmother lost most of her family at the concentration camps and was living in the mountains with a Christian family doing farm work, while my grandfather escaped to the US. They met - the end? lol.
As for my mom's side, we know she is almost mainly German (slightly french/Scottish -- not much) and that my great great great great great great Uncle was none other then Ulysses S. Grant -- President.
As for DH -- Don't know much about his family history although I'd be really interested in learning his mothers linage. She was born in China, but was Lebanese/Palestinian. (His father is German and Italian -- Half/Half)

According to the Ellis Island record, my great great grandfather came from Kilkuny, Courland.. the information I have from 1908 "Poland" shows it as Kurlandia and it is now not even in Poland.. it's Latvia! I think my aunt and I are going to Poland next year, and we want to go to Auschwitz. We are both very big into history
With Chris' family it will be hard, but I'm hoping his mom can help me with his bio-fathers side.

My sister's husband is really into this and has been researching both his and her family - but I have no idea what he's found (regarding her/my family). If I hear about something - some old stories its neat, don't get me wrong ....but if I don't hear anything then I don't.

What's sort of disgusting is that my Dad and I went to Ellis Island on one of my court-ordered visitations when I was like 15 I think, and I never looked.
Someone on the Luke side has done a great job-- my bro got the material in hs, but I've never really been that interested until lately.
I wonder what my Mom's would be like.
The only person "famous" I know I am related to is Delilah, the late night radio host. She is my Dad's cousin, but my Dad's Dad had 13 siblings, all of whom had at least 3 children.

I am big into family history. On my mom's side, we have back at least 8 generations...not sure how much further back, I know one line we have traced back to like..1300's. My dad's side we have back into the early 1800's, working on more. Dh's family, on his mom's side, we have WAY back as well. on his dad's side we also have a decent amount.
Aaron Nicole-I've done a lot through the LDS church, they have a huge geneaology library anyone can use. Lately I have been using Geni.com to note everything, my extended family is all on there and can add to the tree or add details. it's awesome/

My grandpa on my dad's side did tons of research on the family and had it all in a huge binder. But I don't know if my parent's still have it: it may have gotten lost in the move. No info on my mom's side. I'm not really interested in it, unfortunately...

my aunt and I have found most of our info on ancestry.com, roots.com and ellisisland.com. My aunt has also sent away for a lot of birth/death certificates from various town halls. Luckily when the all came over here they mostly stayed in MA.. on my dads side I've just started and I'm back 3 generations and into Canada now, so it's getting a bit more tricky.
Michelle.. last night I was flipping through the radio and heard Delilah.. she was actually talking about her maiden name, and I started laughing.. I was like "hey I know a *L* too" haha
