I tried to find the thread the other day and couldn't. I need sling and carrier recommendations. For some reason even though he's upright Matthew always spits up in the Bjorn and it hurts my back anyway.

I'd like a sling I can nurse him in, something not too hot (TX summers are brutal). I remember Kate had one she liked that wasn't too hot but don't remember which kind.

I THINK she liked the moby wrap Sand (its the UV protection one made for hot weather).

I love my moby... but not when its hot... its alot of material along your back and you'll sweat. When its really warm and were outside I love my ergo!!

Everyone loves the Ergo carrier- I don't have one, but I wish I did.

I have a Peanut Shell sling that I have never had a problem with, but I could never nurse in it because it held Reid slightly too high. It may just be too small for me. He slept in it a lot, and now that he's older, we love the hip-carry.

I have yet to figure out how to nurse Alyssa in a carrier--any carrier.

Don't get a moby if it's hot. I couldn't use mine at all. The only times I wore her in it she screamed because she was overly hot and I sweat all over the place. We have 100+ degree summers here and it was just way too hot.

The mei tai was what I used in the early weeks because it had more head support. Then I switched to the Ergo. Now I'm back to the mei tai because it's more comfortable in the back carry than the Ergo. But both of those hold her head too high to nurse in.

Ring slings & pouches hurt my back pretty badly.

I love my Moby but it's way too hot for Texas. I'm using a Wrap N Wear - it's a wonderfully strong, lightweight crinkle cotton that is perfect for hot weather babywearing. The "designer" wraps with the center fabric are cute, but keep in mind that adds extra fabric and weight.

I also second the mei tai recommendation that Jess made. They are fab for teeny babies, but unfortunately most are made with a heavy twill fabric which doesn't allow for very good airflow.

We just got our Ergo in the mail....I took a pic of DH wearing it with DS in it since he's only 28 pounds he's still within the weight limit of it....I'll post it as soon as I can get my rear in gear to get it uploaded to the computer. DH and I both love it so far the little bit we've worn it with DS in it...a big ole three year old. I'm hoping that when baby is tiny and we're using her in it with the infant insert that she'll be able to nurse - they say its possible.

Here is a good site with a bunch of FAQ about Ergo - including "Can I nurse my baby in the carrier!"

The Ergo Baby Carrier - FAQs

thanks ladies for the links and info - for our next baby since the kids are old enough to come to the barn, I would think the baby can come out and join on warm days too - and what a perfect hands free way!!

I don't have a wrap or sling but do have a carrier, she likes, although when warm does get a bit hot for me, although she is fine.

Some carriers like this do have a breastfeeding position.

This one in our mothercare does :

Mothercare 4-position carrier - Chestnut : mothercare

I have a hotsling that is made out of a light cotton fabric. I also have an Ergo that is awesome and my fav carrier ever! There is an ergo now especially for hot weather and sporty activity that I think is more breathable. I think it's an awesome investment because Aden still loves being carried in hers, she gets jealous every time I carry Phin!

Wow Jess, that looks like a lot of pounds of baby you are carrying there!

Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm getting a Wrap N Wear and later I may have to look into the Ergo Sport.

If anyone else is interested in the Wrap N Wear, they are on sale at this site (limited fabric choices) Wrap 'n Wear Baby Wrap - Coupon Code - On Sale - Baby Wrap Carrier
