So Ben is waiting on an external hard drive to be delivered today and got an automated call saying that we had to be here to sign for it. Well we wanted to get out of the house and not sit around waiting to sign for it, but he really needs to have it today. So he decided to write a note to the UPS guy and tape it to our door... and I must say the note he typed up is pretty ridiculous. One of our friends and a groomsmen in our wedding is a ups driver, so I guess DH is assuming they're all... like our friend Charlie. haha. Here is what the typed up letter with Ben's signature and business card stapled to it reads:
Quote:
Dear kind UPS man or lady,
I know a signature is required for the package you're delivering today -- unfortunately I'm not able to be here to sign for it
It would be greatly appreciated and super freaking awesome of you if you could just leave it on my doorstep and pretend someone was here to sign for it. It is only a cheap hard drive for my computer but I would like to have it today as it is VIP to my business. I think it's probably safe to leave it here since everyone in this neighborhood is a super senior citizen and wont steal it.
If you cannot leave it, I totally understand but will be bummed out. BTW, I'm assuming this is one of the weirdest notes you've gotten before and I'm hoping that works in my favor. Feel free to take this note to show your co-workers if you like.
P.S. my wife is calling me an idiot for writing this.

I was telling him he's going to give us a bad rep with the UPs guy and I'm never going to get my packages. Also, when they don't leave the package, but the guy takes the note and shows it to the office, DH is going to feel like a tool walking in there to get it. I also was literally laughing out loud when I read where it says "It is only a cheap hard drive for my computer but I would like to have it today as it is (VERY IMPORTANT PERSON) for my business."
Anyway... sorry for the random thread, I just thought it was pretty funny. I'll let you guys know if he leaves the package

HAHAHA LOVE IT!!!!! I can't wait to hear what happens!
He should have signed the bottom of the paper, then have the person lay it over their little screen and push the fake pen over it (trace it) so the signature looks close! LOL

Well it's 3:30 and they haven't come by yet... the note is still there and there's no yellow slip saying they tried to come by.
@ angela- ben did sign the paper... I was thinking the same thing.

HAHAHA. I LOLed at that
Super funny, because my dang lens that I rented has been trying to arrive at my house since last Friday, but it needs a signature, and we're not home during the day! I called stupid Fed/Ex and told them to quit trying to deliver it, and to deliver it on Wednesday (yesterday) because DH would actually be home. The dopes tried delivering on Tuesday even though I told them not to, and that made it 3 times that no one was able to sign for it, so they didn't deliver it on Wednesday! Now we have to drive out to god-knows-where to pick it up at the Fed/Ex facility! It's like 35 mins away! I'm more peeved that I paid for a 7 day rental but will only have it for 3 days (it wasn't supposed to arrive until Monday, but it came last Friday, which would have been awesome if I could have actually gotten it!)

No one came! They left an automated message on his phone saying to be home to sign for it but the tracking is saying it should be delivered tomorrow. I'm glad we didn't wait around all day!
Bre -- today when we were at lunch Ben is telling me about how you're shooting a wedding soon and have rented a lens and blah blah and I'm like HEY! You talk to her more than I do!
