My 6 week check up is tomorrow and I STILL am undecided about birth control!

I used FAM before I got pregnant and loved it. But without a period, it doesn't like a reliable preventative. Which BTW, I'm predicting AF will start in less than 2 weeks since I had a large amount of CM this week. Anyways....

I don't want to take the pill or shot because I didn't like my reactions to it and want to be as natural as possible. However, I also am wigged out by anything I have to insert. And DH is too uncomfortable wearing condoms (and frankly it doesn't feel that great for us).

Do you think I should just suck it up and take the BC pill until AF has visited a few times so I can use FAM? I want another baby but not right away so pull and pray scares me as well. I'm thankful for my pregnancies, but remember I got knocked up the first try both times.

Have you thought about the mini-pill? You need to take it at the SAME EXACT time EVERY day (there is no window of time), but, it might help with the reactions. The only thing I didn't like about it was I had spotting after AF.

I think in your situation, FAM without a couple months of AF established would be risky. My suggestion would be just suck it up and use the condoms - then again, there are always "alternative" ways to be intimate too, which don't carry a risk of pregnancy.

I am just very wary of birth control in general but my body is so out of whack that meds that can mess with my hormones scares me!

What about many preventative measures? Like condoms plus spermicide, something like that?

well Id say the same thing too, condoms, spermacide...all of that mumbo jumbo. There is the Paraguard IUD that has NO hormones, lasts 10 years. The down side is women have reported to have heavier periods and more spotting between AFs due to the metal irritating the wall of the uterus too much....but its a 50/50 shot - ask your dr

It doesn't sound like you like any of your options. We just use pnp for now. But we never have sex so I'm not worried about it. I have yet to have a period. I get CM and cramping at times but never AF. Are you EBF? I don't remember if you started formula.

I don't know either. My OB was warning me about using rhythm method or thinking that EBF would keep me from getting preggo.
I'm not sure what we will do. Either condoms or PNP. I had a friend tell me the lambskin condoms feel much better than latex, we may try those.

I just had ParaGuard put in at my 6week pp 2weeks back. Its non hormonal so thats nice and it can last upto 10yrs if you want to or have it taken out less. I had Mirena after Seamus its also an IUD but its hormonal and I didn't like the weight gain side effects from it.

I'm absolutely no help on these BC discussions....I didn't mind the pill at all and the "effects" if any were way less concern than a baby at a time I didn't really want one in my life. This time, DH is getting the old "snipero" so we have absolutely nothing to worry about.....and NO MORE KIDS!!!

I'm using a pill called Exluton which is for breastfeeding mommies. I know you don't really want to use the pill but I don't know what else to suggest apart from condoms. A few ladies in my DDC got pregnant with Mirena.

Very rare to get pregnant on an IUD, less of a chance then with the pill or condoms. I had Mierna(the hormonal one) from September 2006 till May 2008 and never got pregnant Just took over 3months to get pregnant when it came out though.

My OB said that ParaGard has less of a chance of the woman getting pregnant while its in then the Mierna does but they are both under 1% chance.

Info on the ParaGard Touch ParaGard

Heres this site I found about different BC's it may help you out finding something too
Birth control

ParaGard Official FDA information, side effects and uses.

Have you thought about diaphram, that's probably what I'm going to use. I don't want to try hormonal methods because I'll be breastfeeding, and I always hated condoms. And the diaphram is actually more effective than it claims because some people don't use spermacide with it, or they don't put it in right away, or don't leave it in long enough. It was never a mood killer either, even though you'd think it would be. And my ex said it didn't feel bad, even though he could feel it so bad.
